I done every CS in town on Saturday looking a particular book and hubby nabs himself a brand new with tags RL for £8.50. A saving of £101.50:T
I was just raging I wasn't on me own and spotted it cos that would have been Christmas sorted :rotfl:0 -
I managed to buy a Remoska with separator. cookery book, all the original paperwork including the Lakeland receipt which is too faded to read. There is not a mark on it, don't think it has been used more than a few times, if at all. I paid £10 for it from the British Heart Foundation Shop in Coventry. I have already got a well used one put could not resist at that price.0

£1 for a lovely big red/blue/green pure wool woven plaid blanket with a couple of tiny moth-nibbles, in the "pet bedding" bin at our local animal rescue charity. I've washed it at 60℃ to felt it slightly - I had another plan for it if that went wrong - and it's come out smaller, softer and without the holes!Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Well, after my holiday I'm back in the groove.
Bought a 'looks unworn' Per Una blouse for £1.00 from my local Hospice shop.
Jade green with butterflies on it. Comes to just below my bum so perfect with leggings over a vest top (I already have one in the exact same colour (also Per Una), 3/4 length sleeves.
I did get in a bit of a quandry about a brand new, still sealed, bluray series 1-5 of Downton Abbey at £35 but after checking Amazon and seeing it was £40 and that I could also preorder series 1-6 for £43 I decided I'd rather pay the extra £8 and have a full-and-final set.
Was that very non-MSE of me?
I am going to wait until all the hoo-haa has died down and hope the price comes down from £43.0 -
Did a tour of the local CS's today, my daughter found a Joules shirt for £10!!!!! we didn't buy it, I do think the shops around here are getting very expensive.Slightly bitter0

Ladies - I'm in a bit of a quandry.
I don't know if I've got a charity shop bargain or not.
I spotted a fab hoodie in Age Concern yesterday but almost fainted at the price (I'll reveal that later).
It's Weird Fish and is still on their website as a current style:The warmest, snuggest hoody we do. This chunky take on our iconic Macaroni fabric features a plush fur lining, side pockets and good sized hood. In 3 new autumnal colours this season.1994 - the macaroni was bornIt has taken 20 years to perfect this slow spun, worn in, pre-grooved, cotton slub sweatshirt. Now a firm favourite, we call it the Macaroni.
The original Macaroni fabric was discovered by Weird Fish back in 1993 at the Ataturk knitting factory in Turkey by our agent and friend Reha who still works with us to the day. When we found the fabric nobody was using it, the machines were redundant and it didn't even have a name so we christened it Macaroni after the variety of pasta it resembled.
New price is £85 so it's less than 25% of the new price.
But - is it a bargain?
I bought anyway and can take it back within 28 days for a full refund.
But what do you think?
A charity shop bargain to me is finding a Per Una top for £1.0 -
IF it's "as new" IF you love it and (most importantly) IF you need it and can make good use of it I think it's a bargain at £20.
I've seen a beautiful painted single wardrobe in the BHF shop, priced at £95.
Measured up the existing bedroom furniture and I shall have to do a fair bit of rearranging, but if it's still in the shop today I shall buy it!
Fingers crossed.Normal people worry me.0 -

I also bought a Mantaray mint green T-shirt, long length - just over my bum so good with leggings. £2.99 from Cat Protection.
And a pair of flowered leggings (by George so not that expensive to start with) - feel new, lovely and soft - fuchsia, yellow and turquoise flowers (I'm a fuchsia, purple and turquoise kind-of-gal). £1.50 from Age Concern.
Your wardrobe sounds lovely - my fingers are crossed too that it's still there.
In fact, go right now!
Do not pass 'GO', do not collect £200.0 -

It's like a knitted fabric:
It's really heavyweight - perfect for cold, dry, crisp winter days, the colour is fab (more fuchsia than it looks), condition is as new (I've checked the pockets, lining and outer) and it will look great with jeggings and flat ankle boots - but it was £19.99.
New price is £85 so it's less than 25% of the new price.

I had one of these bought as a birthday gift last year. I'd say well worth £20.0
