In Bexhill-on-sea yesterday I got a Tea, coffee and sugar set to match my kitchen for £2.50, a beautiful tablecloth for £2 and four white pillowcases for my son for 50p each. Really pleased!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
I got a lovely light green Hugo Boss blouse in Oxfam this weekend for £6 - couldn't believe it! Fits perfectly. I'm not sure but it might be raw silk - the side label (the one that would say what material it is) has been cut out.0

No charity shop bargains this week, but some blinding carboot ones if its OK to put them on this thread?
About 2.5mtrs of red candystripe fabric for...20p!
A vintage singer hand cranked, including the wooden cover for £5 (it's my 5th sewing machine, so probably shouldn't have, but it was soooooo beautiful and just a fiver, and I really need a hand machine for the holiday caravan as the electric is too noisy once the children have gone to bed, and yes,I know I've already got 2 hand machines, but one I use all the time at home, and the other just looks so nice on the dresser...well I've convinced myself, even if not anyone else!)
A good sized heavy bottomed "meyer" (don't know the brand myself) frying/sauteing pan, lovely heavy item, fab condition and £1! We need it for down the van, where we currently only have some pretty warped "basics" style pots and pans.
3 melamine plates, 2 tumblers and a salad bowl in a retro design for £1. Bargain in itself, but even more so for us as we have 1 plate in the same design down the van, so this builds a set for us! Really delighted with this!
Oh and a cheese grater for 50p,again something we need down the van and were looking for!
I LOVE carboots!0 -
What a great thread.
My bargain this week was found in Grassington in the Age Uk shop tucked away down a back street ( Oh! I have told you allnow!). A lovely shell braclet for 99p, just right for the summer wedding I am going to in a few weeks.
Some of the shops are getting abit pricey now.
I like to look for small cheap items that will do for 'swaps' for my other hobby of geocachingJane 21120 -
Hey All, not been near a chazza shop for couple of weeks but made up for it today...
In the 1st chazza shop I got a gorgeous red dress for work for £2, a silk blouse for £2, some brand new M&S limited collection heels for a tenner, brand new The Body Shop body butter for 50p.
In the 2nd charity shop I got DD Rebook 3/4 trousers and myself a stripy nautical blouse, both of the 99p rail.
In the 3rd chazza shop I got me some bnwt shorts for £1, and DD a vest top and shorts for £1.50 each.
As a side issue, the person behind the counter in the first chazza shop was really upset and nearly in tears and said the customer before me was really rude, haggled over the price of everything and was just generally nasty. I didn't hear what said or I would have definately butted in. I can't abide rudeness and this poor lady is a volunteer who gives up 7 hours of her weekend and does not deserve to be spoken to like crap. Anyway, to try and restore kalma slightly I said I didn't have enough cash and needed to nip to the cashpoint, and I went to a local shop and bought her a box of Roses for her and other volunteer. Its a small thing but she was made up with it. I am just still fuming about how rude some people can be though.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -

When I was on mat leave I volunteered at a CS, and obviously got to know the old ladies who I worked with there really well. They did used to get upset when people hassled them, and they would have *so* appreciated you buying them some chocs!
Most of the people (usually elderly) that I knew that volunteered, it was more than just them being nice, it was a lifeline and a community for them, and they really did feel it if people treated them badly.
So a huge thanks from me for doing that! It was a lovely thing to do, and, trust me, it will have been really appreciated,0 -
JodyBPM: that really is a most fantastic score but even I think yet another sewing-machine could be seen as very slightly excessive, even if was only a fiver. That machine should be mine, darn it
BBTHREE: You are a little star. Even if people think that some charity shops are getting a bit dear there's absolutely no excuse for haggling and being rude to anyone, never mind a volunteer, that deserves a smack or being shown the door at the very least. Who the heck do these people think they are? Special or something? Saw something similar not long ago when some horrible rude bint was trying to haggle over a nice-quality and fairly-priced pair of five quid shoes. And I did not mind my own business, either. Hehe
Has anyone else noticed how many charity shops have signs now saying they're not prepared to haggle? There's one particular shop nearby which has someone on the door to prevent people shop-lifting. Shoplifting in a charity shop! I must be getting old because I found that truly shocking.0
