I'm on a roll here and need to get a grip or it will be the debtor's prison for me.
I went to stay with my sister down in Berkshire over the weekend and the darling little sweetie gave me a tenner to treat myself to something nice when scouring the local CSs. This is the score:
Pretty little glass sugar-dredger with a pierced metal lid: £1
Set of metal measuring spoons 50 pence
Six shiny metal tea-light holders: £1
Fuchsia silk sleeveless top: £2
Bright tourquiose Thai silk sleeveless top: £2
While linen long-sleeved shirt: £2.49
Black linen embroidered sleeveless top: £2.49
Dark brown linen trousers: £4
Blue & green floral just-below-the-knee skirt from Monsoon £2.99 This is an absolute beauty: lined and in the finest cotton fabric, 20-gored and very flared at the hem.
Kind and generous sister snagged a very fetching Nicole Farhi cardi and very nice it looked on her too. That was a fiver really well-spent.
I could have bought even more lovely linen trousers (IF I had the money) but I'm not quite the right size for very pale colours, which is either a pity or just as well, depending on how you want to look at it.
If we don't get any decent summer weather soon I'm going to be very displeased indeed. I have a horrible feeling I may have put a hex on it with all the linen things I've bought.
Happy hunting, everyone. The bargains are out there. Well, they were before I snagged most of them.0 -
A happy result indeed B&T. What a haul!
I managed a few more toys for my "grandaughter visits" days plus a nice Per Una Tshirt from the local Dog Rescue shop.
Bring on the summer......pleeze.Normal people worry me.0 -
I went to my favourite CS today & bought a Jacques Vert suit for my Mum to wear to my daughters wedding for £12.50, it's a plain jacket, patterned skirt & top with patterned scarf. Hopefully it will fit her & she'll like it. God knows what this would have cost new, it looks like new.
Then collected the suit I bought off ebay from the delivery office, £350 suit for £8 something.
Now I need the shoes & bag & I'll be all set.
Also bought myself a long, drape cardigan type affair but it's cotton, like a shirt for £2.95.0 -
Our Red Cross Shop is holding a Jumble Sale today. Brilliant prices. 4 books for a £1 and bought a fleece top for 50p.
Bring back jumble sales!0 -
Just back from a trip down my local high street.
Couldn't resist a look in the cancer research CS & found another pair of unworn Hotter shoes in my size for £9.95.:j
This time they are casual shoes in pale cream soft leather and will go great with lots of different things.
I asked if they had come in with the other pair I had bought & they had. I have found before that if you find something good in a CS it is worth looking in again a few days later as often good stuff that has come in together from the same person doesn't get put out together through lack of space etc.
Happy Hunting everybody.0 -

Hope you have better luck with your Hotter shoes than I did! I bought a pair, brand new, still in the box for £7.99 from a local chazza shop. On the third time of wearing the soles crumbled to bits and fell away....never seen anything like it.,...they just disintegrated!! I got in touch with Hotter to complain but as I didn't buy them from a 'proper' shop they didn't want to know .
After doing a bit of online research it seems to have been a common phenomenon with Hotter shoes.... scrolly down to see Josaphine's comments http://www.weeklygripe.co.uk/a477.asp
Best of luck with yours but I will never buy Hotter shoes again no matter how good a bargain they seem0 -
My latest addition is a Lovely 'Teal' coloured maxi dress, its halter neck but also has shoestring straps which you can use as well or just tuck into the dress. It has jewels on the bust and reminds me of a sort of Grecian dress. Its Monsoon and cost £6...and no signs of wear and tear and fits perfectly...so a bargain!:beer:0

I'm so pleased with bargains today! From my local oxfam I picked up a "Little Tykes" Tap a tune piano for £1.99, an Annabel Karmel weaning receipe book for 99p & a baby fun book for 69p. British heart foundation had a M&S grobag for £1.99, Bluezoo romper for 99p and a 3pc hungry caterpillar set, coat, leggings & hat for £3 - they all looked immaculate! So chuffed :-)0

Who was complaining earlier about the scarcity of small sizes? On my visit to Crouch End today nearly everything beautiful and summery was a tiny size 8. Some absolutely gorgeous little frocks for almost next-to-nothing. Still, I did find a lovely white, round-necked, short-sleeved linen smock-sortof top for three darling little quidlets. Also a can-opener, some of those natty bulldog-clip curtain thingumnys, a metal soap-dish and a pale blue vest with lace round the neck-line for an extremely modest £1.50 None of those items were actually priced so I had no idea what the bill was going to come to but I really didn't expect it to be so very low. Amazing0
