What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

The CS that I volunteer in had their 'Christmas Event' yesterday.
Didn't have to go in to work (I'd already done my fair share in the 'preparation day' on Friday), but I did take my 6yr old dgd along to meet Santa / sing Carols / eat mince pies etc.
We took part in the obligatory 'Guess the doll's name', Hamper Raffle etc then browsed the items for sale.
Got a beautiful Yankee Candle Christmas Saucer (50p) similar to http://www.yankeedirect.com/product/yankee_candle_christmas_eve_small_tray/3328/ , set of 12 Gold/Silver Tree Baubles (£1.00) and a M&S Small Nativity Set (£1.00) - all had been donated unused/'as new'.
Earlier in the week, I'd already found a great book for dd's fella - 'Steaming Through Britain' for £1.00 - currently selling for £20.00! (In the shop we sell all paperbacks at 50p and hardbacks at £1.00 each - p/b's at 4 for £1.00 when we have a Sale!)
Since OH bought me a Kindle last Christmas, I'm NOT supposed to bring books into the house  - but as that one was leaving again, it was excused on this occasion :rotfl:0 -
Gorgeous Alex and Co jacket - £6.99 - love it0

It's been *almost* 3 weeks so allowed myself a browse!
from the £1 rail in the air ambulance shop...
White shrug with crochet. Hearts on the back, think it'll look cute in summer with a bright vest underneath
New look khaki shiny silky top, hard to describe, not sure if I really like it or not yet...
From the 50p rail in the relate shop...
What looks like a hand made skirt for one of the many nieces
A cardi to match!
Fat face woolly tunic for a niece (think there'll be a fight over that one!!)
From the strut (disabled children) shop
George brand new shoes £2
Principles black and white skirt 50p (doesn't fit so will give to a friend)
See how long I can hold out this time!!0 -
3 weeks here too, and I really should have been getting on with other things, but never mind.
£3 Abercrombie and Fitch top and a £4 L.K. Bennett top that'll be good for work. Both seem to have plenty of wear left in them. Each would have cost me £10-£15 in the charity shops just over in Wimbledon, so I'm happy, even if I can't compete with the £1 finds others are getting.
Funny how this one shop gets some good quality stuff, when the shop next door is full of worn out, shrunken, faded supermarket brands for the same price.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -
Lovely red M&S Jacket (looks brand new) £4.99 - couldn't resist at that price!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

I was looking at full price 'embellished' T-shirts and some of the prices were hair-raising. Anyway, found a lovely stretchy black vest with 'jewels' around the neck - looks completely unworn - for £3 at our local Scope shop.
None of our CS stores are the £1 types. It always works out that skirts and trousers are about £3-50 to £5.50 (and often more if they are a good brand) and T-shirts are £2 - £3 each. You are getting FatFace and Hollister usually at the top end prices.
Shoes are a right muddle. Some old, worn out shoes/boots might be ££££ if they are well-known (Ecco, LKBennett) and newish Clarks are about £5-£6 a pair. Does this sound like the sort of prices you are all paying? (I'm in mid-Essex)0 -
I "had to" dress up again today (you may remember my 1940s get up earlier in the thread), only this time we went back to 1897 for a trip to a Victorian school. Rather terrifyingly I only got the phone call asking me to go at midday yesterday  and I dashed down the road to the nearest CS. There I found a rather wonderful man named Richard, who took no longer than ten minutes to find me a long, brown Per Una skirt, a Zara blouse and an M&S cardigan plus a hat! When the manager learned that the ensemble was for a day trip she offered to loan me the clothes, for a mere £2! I'm very happy, DD's teacher is impressed with the costume and the CS gets a couple of quid plus the clothes back clean and ready to sell. They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

That charity shop was so kind to do that for you. You done well to get organised in such a short time.
So many nice people in this world that we never hear about.0 -
A chemistry set - before Health & Safety sunk their fangs in & containing logwood, which we hadn't managed to find at a reasonable price anywhere!
Home made oak gall ink, and assorted dying projects, here we come!0 -

Our Charity Shops are about the same Beenie, I'm in Worcestershire and the prices are sometimes ridiculous, even though the town isn't a posh one!Normal people worry me.0
