had a great 1 hour in 2 charity shops. Got -

a book for my daughter that's been on the list for about 4 months - 25p

3 games for eldest son - Trivial Pursuit 90s, Articulate & More Balderdash - when I placed them on the desk the lovely lady told me that she was in the process of reducing them to half price - £4.50 the lot :T (he already has them but they're at his house near Uni)

a white linen Autograph blouse for my mum for £3.50. She has arthritic fingers & so finds it difficult to do up buttons but this is quite low cut & easy to get over her head & also managed to get her a cami to wear underneath for £2.

Also got her the most beautiful tweed jacket with copper silk piping (traffic people make, never heard of them) £5.50

& a beautiful devore scarf that honestly looks as though it's part of a set with the jacket - it's in beautiful autumnal clours - that was £2.25.

I got myself a handmade notice board covered with beige linen fabric with printed autumn leaves for £3.

:j kept singing to myself - 'didn't I have a loverrly day, the day I went to the charity shop' :rotfl:

Last weekend took DD back to Uni in bath and got a Mulberry Jacket for £5 and two pairs of white company Linen Trs never worn for £2 per pair.

Going to Thame in Oxford on Wed as husband working there. Can anyone suggest any good charity shops / areas for Charity shops near there?

    Thanks

    I use Yell.com.
Just enter 'charity shops' and the location of the place you're going.

I then check on theaa.com for a map of the town I'm visiting (enter the postcode of one of the charity shops) and you can see the names of the roads and see where the shops are.
  • Not charity shop bargains but car boot. Got 3 tops for me that all look new for £2.50, a pair of brand new Next pumps for DD for £2, a book 50p and a denim jacket for DD £1.50. Love car boots, often cheaper than charity shops
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Today I found a nice Puffa gilet with a small bridle/snaffle pattern on for £4.50 and a long green weather proof coat with hood and cape (like the waxed coats but not waxed) by Tayberry for £9.50, it's so I look the part while standing around at horse shows and the yard with my daughter - I too can look posh for less than £15 quid :rotfl:

Just checked out the coat and it is £57.99 new so not that posh after all!!!

Had a few days away near Dartmouth - Cancer Research shop had a 'posh' rail of new clothes. I got a beautiful Joseph Ribkoff black evening dress & a pair of black crepe trousers for £40.00. I think because I am tall they probably didn't fit any 'normal' person - haha
A 'friend' said I should put it on eBay but is it me 'cos I think that seems immoral.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Personally I do, and if I ever sell something I bought in a charity shop I give 50% of any "profit" back to the charity so they benefit as well as me.

I certainly don't buy in charity shops with the intent of selling on for my own benefit.

I got a lovely M@S jumper dress for £6.99 it was new so didn`t mind paying that. Same ones are £39.99 in store.

I would sell on ebay as you have already paid what cs wanted for the item.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
