As already said, if I accept the full £200 Ib have to actually spend it on care. And prove it. So since I'm only spending £75 of it, I'll have to either give the rest back or find a way of spending the rest.

I could pay her £200 a week but the tax/NI implications would be a mess since she has no NI number

Errr am I missing something again?

You get the money for care ~ you spend it on care and then prove it.

Whatever you get, you should give it ALL to the au pair if she is the one who is caring for you [STRIKE]even though she doesn't be[/STRIKE].
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...
  • But then she can always just "send her back" if she doesn't suit ;)

So you don't need to put on the application exactly who will be the carer for you? No

You could just claim for the payments and not really have anyone care for you? No, you have to prove the money has gone to someone, its all audited

The poor au pair is doing 2 jobs instead of the one she was hired for, being paid a measly £50, in a country she doesn't know and you're whinging about her? Technically, although as a carer she doesnt actually have to do anbything other than be alive

You take her out but you don't want to take her out? Wuld you want someone with you all the time socially if it wasnt someone you'd willfully choose to spend social time with
You buy juice but whinge when she drinks it? I buy 3 litres of juice to last 4-5 days, not 24 hours for one person

She's a saint from the sounds of it, poor lass.

Now I know why celebrities moan that papers put things totally skew wiff

Absolute rubbish - she can apply for a national insurance number or can be dealt with under a temporary number (if shes legal!)
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
  • But you have said that they said you can pay £12 an hour ...so why dont you ??? You have said in another thread that you already pay someone to do your ironing ...This poor girl is at your beck and call all the time - give her the money ...its not costing you anything!!!!!! I am sure you will be able to think of ways you an do this for paperwok purposes ..after all you are the expert;)

As mentioned, she has no NI number, it has to be kept before NI/Tax threshold. I dont want the hassle of sorting out NI numbers and stuff and arranging tax. She's here on an ancestory visa, I dont even know what the implications of that are

You would have to be fraudulent for that to happen, I have claimed nothing by fraud, Ive told no lies.

So..because you cant be bothered...she gets less money:mad: You have employed her - you are very good at researching how to get money for yourself - do it for your au pair ..........grrrrrrrrrrr:mad:

That didnt stop thousands of familys getting to much tax credits a few years ago.

Ok so you have not lied, you just accidnetly put a claim in for a carer then drive 70 miles a day ? you accidently get loans and accidently get grants to do your kitchen ??? how does that work ?

You accidently lied to get a mortgage, you accidently tell us we are all so stupid ... actualy no that isnt true ... were just not desperate enough to spend the time working out which benifits will suit the problems we invent best instead we are to busy working paying tax`s for you.

  • Why should she get £200 a week plus £150's worth of board and lodging total £350 as an unqualified au pair for 20 hours a week (cushy sat watching telly) work???? You're so keen to save taxpayers money from misuse, I'm surprised youd advocate it.
