  • I think you would find it hard to get DLA without him ...the DLA is given in cases like yours( ) to enable YOU to be supervised to avoid danger to your young child. You blacking out is in DLA rules "unlikely to cause serious injury to yourself or others) and as such you would not get DLA ..or if you were lucky would get lower rate (thus no additional tax credits) - you yourself have mentioned time and time again that you have the dla and carer for the safety of your son. You also said you were going to get £200 per week in direct payments...imagine you made a mistake then:rolleyes:

Well they gave it to me for the 3 years before I had him

I received my notification today £200 I have been given for Direct Payments, however I cannot justify all that. I can only take what I can legitimally account for, and I'm sure they'd have something to say if £150 a week was going amiss! Reconsidering, I'll use £75 to give her a payrise and say I dont need the rest. On the other hand I might make sure I use every last penny of it and get someone in to do my ironing and cook a gourmet meakl for us all :rotfl:

sleepymy - I have 24 hour live-in care, or at least care ON HAND 24 hours a day.

That still doesn't explain what your DLA assessment has got to do with your son.... I know several disabled parents who are too ill to look after themselves and none of them have had their DLA assessed on their family situation.

Under what legislation does the DLA award you full time care because you are a parent?

  • Yes, it certainly does annoy me. Although not as much as jealous people who are p1ssed off because they've been refused DLA themselves half a dozen times and try and they might they just can't get their mitts on it
  • Have you used up all the £4,000 loans and grants you received in October
Can I re-iterate for 100th time that I wouldn't be in this mess had I not used all of Aprils loans/grants on the deposit and come October I'll get another £4,000 in loans and grants which will pay my childcare etc. The reason I'm skint is because I received money to pay my childcare but used in on deposit (not knowing OH woukd walk out) and now I have to pay £440 a month in childcare until October fom my own pocket.
I do have a guaranteed income, well as guaranteed as anyone's income is-obviously anyone could lose their job. I have £1300 a month plus £12,000 a year in loans and grants. However I cant wait til October with no kitchen or central heating hence this thread- need to do it as cheap as possible!!
  • sleepymy - my son has nothing to do with the DLA as far I'm aware, my son is part of the Direct Payments.

I get DLA because it enables me to live independently with a chronic condition
