i am on the claimants side plain and simple.

Me too. I got a disciplinary warning for speaking out in the newspaper about benefit cuts.
<would probably result in dismissal these days>

However, I don't encourage one party to lie to the other party and at the same time complain of perceived deceit of that other party, as you have been doing.
sanction lengths are over the top and often for very minor things.
    Yes I'm sure they are.

Do you misrepresent matters in other areas of life in order to negate or right perceived wrongs or just the benefits system?

what has been created is a situation where the jobcentre are the enemy. people need to defend themselves the best way they can. if it wasnt for the unscrupulous nature of the jobcentre operation there would never be a need to suggest it maybe a good idea on occasion to do the odd fib when its possible to do so without getting into trouble.

The job centre staff unfortunately have to try and enforce a regime that has been set up by managers who are extremely very far away from the 'real world' sitting in their ivory towers, so maybe this is why they are seem to be 'the enemy'.
  • As long as people jump through the hoops the Government have set for them then the system will tick along just fine. If they say jump you need to say how high and make sure you jump that high. A patronising over simplification I know but this is the best way I can describe the current system.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

yes there are some decent people who work in jobcentres. i criticised it as an operation which means alot of the issues arent down to the staff.

yes some people returning from the work programme are being subject to a tougher regime and on occasion they are being told you havent done enough. that is why i make a point of saying to them make sure you ask them what is the minimum required of you so that you can make sure you do it.

These extra steps and the numbers required should be clearly identified and explained on your new job seekers agreement that should be drawn up and agreed at your post wp interview

Until people can't jump higher, can't meet the conditions.

They're setting people up to fail & sanction.
