Independent in the sense that they mostly will be in a completely different office to the advise, never have met the adviser and have no interest in keeping the adviser happy or helping then achieve any targets and will have no prior knowledge of the claimant

Not only that they use the Decision Makers guide and the rules in it to make those decisions, it's not random and is based on the law and the evidence provided.

Because when people get a letter telling them they can no longer get JSA, they think it's all over. So, they no longer sign on and their claim is closed, so lose their housing benefit and are evicted from their homes.

My jobseekers was suspended because I wouldn't tell lady what days I was going to go into library.. I assured her I would go at least twice a week to search for jobs but, she wanted to know what days my diarys were all filled out and up to date..just didn't want to commit myself to what days as I knew if I never went on they exact days my money would be stopped.. She stopped it anyway and my housing benefit has been stopped aswell!! Was awarded hardship but still not recd it 13 days after my money stopped..

if you want to help yourself evade this from happening i would go online to places like
Reed,
CV Library,
job centre website and indeed.co.uk which is a portal and gleans jobs from wherever it originates.

go on courses

also find yourself a volunteer job, it shows that A you want a job whether you are paid or not B they wont touch you because you have elected to find it for yourself and have not been DIRECTED to getting one.

And as a general rule use lined paper to document EVERYTHING you have done, dont bother with the one they give you, it's a poorly put together document,

speaking to agencies - ENSURE YOU GET NAMES OF WHO YOU SPEAK TO INCLUDING THE RECEPTIONIST AND ASK WHO WOULD NORMALLY DEAL WITH TEMP/PERM SIDE
email spec letters to agencies
go to agencies and hand deliver your CV and explain who you are
sending spec letters to companies when you see an advert for a job
look on gumtree is another place where you can find work.

LOOK ON LINKED IN when you find someone who works at a company or agency it will omit their surname except the first letter so do a google search for the name and include the company name alot of the time you can find their whole name, then check for the domain name (everything after the @ sign) alot of companies use jane.doe@dontknow.co.uk i would make special effort for companies you do wish to work for by doing this.

I look at it that if a company is advertising a job CONTACT THEM whether its in your line of work or not they may have something entirely different which you could do.

I used to have 15 things to do per week, i EXCEEDED and did 30 simply because i did all of the above, and no one could say anything. Evidence is key

most importantly DONT GET NASTY with the job centre if you appear nice to them, they will make time for you. If you don't they will target you!

Good luck with your hardship issue with them, i hope you will be able to get it overturned. Unfortunately everyones a target except the layabouts who pop a kid out all the time and dont want a job - they know they cant touch them.

you should have just fibbed. if you say you go to the library on a thursday and you went on friday instead how would they know. as far as your hardship payment goes it is fair to assume it will arrive on your usual pay day. if it doesnt phone them up. i dont think you get paid for the first 2 weeks. dont forget you still have to sign on as normal while you are sanctioned.

What happens during the time you are sanctioned? If its 13 weeks do you still go in and sign in the jobcentre every 2 weeks and what are you having to do in terms of looking for work?

While on a sanction everything is exactly the same as before the sanction except for your payments.

You have to attend JC every 2 weeks, still do the same amount to look for work and still attend Working Programme if your on it.

Does that mean you can be sanctioned whilst already being under a sanction? ... and if so can they stop you from getting paid hardship payments?

I am not sure about them stopping your hardship payments but yes they can sanction you while already on a sanction.

I was giving a 4 week sanction for not attending appointment that I never received a letter about, while on the sanction I was then given another 17 week sanction.

you arent guaranteed hardship payments but if you qualify they cant stop you getting them. it may mean being economical with the truth. for example i believe one question asks, is there anyone who can supports you. even if there is say no to this question. although dont give any answers that you can be caught out on.

So earlier you suggested fibbing and now you suggest an outright lie.

I assume you no longer criticise JC staff for their behaviour.
