Just to clarify the situation (I rang to see if they could confirm that my account's been opened, which it has). The opening deposit must be by cheque, however, any additional payments in to the account can be done by electronic transfer (but remember you can't add to the account once it's been withdrawn).
This is what's really bothering me! I already have had an account with BM for over 10 years, I would much prefer to complete the whole transaction online to reduce the hassle factor for me, not to launder money. I came on this thread this morning with this specific moan, because otherwise I find BM to be great! How will BM cope when cheques are phased out?

Hi, many apologies if this has already been asked but I'm at work so can't read through all previous 6 pages!

Can I open this account with just a transfer of previous years ISAs or does it need to have new money as well?

    Ta

Either transfer, new money, or combination :)

Brilliant - thanks. Just got off the phone with the totally incompetent Santander and need another option fast before all the good rates get pulled!

I won't touch Santander on principal - if I invest I expect to access that money within the clauses of the account without a struggle.

BM has confirmed by email that I don't need to send a cheque in, but can arrange a transfer by BACS. The problem is, I applied online and don't yet have an account number for the ISA....:o

HTH anyone who dislikes posting cheques as much as I do.

Could you please tell me which email address was it (or replyed to your request)?

I have opened the account with high hopes on the 7th April, but bM has been really slooow on anything.
They tool 2 weeks to clear my check from my bank (and I really did not like all that wasting time... they said they are not sure if they can backdate the investment... still waiting an official answer) and still have not transferred my old isa!

Yes, it was withdrawn this morning but if you've already applied you've got two weeks to deposit the money.

I am in the process of applying for this account.
I have received an account number and now need to supply forms of ID and the opening cheque.

Is there a reference for this 2 week grace period?

After seeing the posting saying that the account was closed I phoned and was told that if I'd already applied and had the forms that I had two weeks to get the money to them.
