I want a social life!!!

Do you like any sports? You could maybe join a club or class if you do and lots to choose from.
I really like the suggestion of volunteering at a rescue centre and might look into it myself!
TBH I'm not that sporty! I tend to view gym / classes etc as a solo activity, for my own leisure. Plus it's a bit hard to talk to someone when you're out of breath or trying to get changed afterwards!:D
Joking aside, clubs also tend to need that 'weekly regular commitment' which I understand but can't realistically offer.Penny: I'm a little low on cash.
Leonard: How much you got?
Penny: Nothing!
Leonard: How can you walk around with no money?
Penny: I'm cute, I get by.0 -
Have a look at City Socialising, you can choose to only meet females or males and a particular age range. Hope it helps!0

One dilemma - How do I prevent myself from taking all the gorgeous cats home with me?Penny: I'm a little low on cash.

KRLYR - can I PM you with my location? Don't feel comfortable giving it out on a public forum...:)
Sure, I understand

I'm finding similar. I have joined quite a few groups and things lately but they do tend to be older than me too. I'm guess I'm not really a club (as in clubbing) sort of person anymore but that's where most people my age tend to be.
I'm loving the idea of dog walking, am going to look for a local centre. I've never really fancied the responsibility of a dog full-time but I'd love to be able to 'borrow' one for a walk - was just saying that to OH the other day.
Have you considered some sort of charity fundraising or something along those lines? Most charities have local fundraising groups and you can fit what needs to be done around work and other commitments.
Good luck with it - will be watching this one with interest as I clearly need more of a social life!0 -

Do you know of any specific net sites links for book groups I could take a look at?
I don't know any websites (athough it wouldn't hurt to Google "book group mytown") I'd ask in any large bookstores as well as the library though.0 -
Book club search has netted some results!
Three groups, one of which was marked a 'not open to new members'. one which was only looking for 'one new member' and the post was about a year ago and 1 other.
Ironically, I remember contacting the person for the last group before (unusual surname) and getting no reply. Either I didn't make a good impression or my e-mail got lost in cyberspace. So have sent it again with crossed fingers!.
Volunteer applications in for cat cuddling and dog walking too so not a bad night all in all!
Still open to more 'social' ideas as I love to go out and about....Penny: I'm a little low on cash.

Surely that doesn't literally involve people cuddling cats? The Cats Protection League (and possibly other places) have volunteers who do "cat cuddling" which can be on an adhoc basis.
I can't think of anything sadder than someone taking up cat cuddling to fix a lack of social life. It's tragic.0 -
