Thanks for that link, very useful!
Quite happy with that return, especially when I consider I got my system for 6k.
Better than any savings account interest rates anyway!

Bear in mind that you will also get a 'return' from savings in Electricity and Gas (depending on use).

You got your system much cheaper than mine, so swings and roundabouts.

Enjoy your new hobby :) It's addictive.

Anyone experienced their electric meter flashing between the meter reading and "rED" !?
I've read it stands for reverse energy detected. My meter is reading this tonight which is concerning me as my elec usage appears to have actually slightly increased in the 3 days since my solar pv was installed.
I'm wondering if my exported units are actually being counted by the meter as imported! I.e the meter can't differentiate between forward and backward flow.
    Any help here appreciated.
I'll obviously be getting on to SSE tomo am!
    Cheers

    Haha thanks, appreciate both replies.

Got a couple of questions if you don`t mind....

    1. I see earlier in the thread some people are posting the amount in £`s they`ve generated.
I`m a bit confused with it all at the mo!

    Thanks in advance

Not many people post in £'s as there are so many rates around in the last couple of years. Many post in kWh or O's, sometimes both. As a comparison of how one system is doing to another, I prefer the O's which is kWp result. At the end of the day, just post what you think is most helpful to other contributors, that's what it's all about.:D

3.44 O's here today not too bad again.....coffee.gif

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

OK, here we go, almost a full day after initial commission...

4.3 kWh which makes about 74p I believe
    1.07 O's (based on 4kWp system)

Got 16 panels to make a 4kWp system, but two strings NE/SW aspects means max will only be around 2.6 or so.
    4kWp system (Feb 2014) : 1.5 SW, 2.5 NE (16x Bisol BMO/250, Aurora Power-One UNO PVI-3.6 Inverter : pvoutput.org/list.jsp?id=29935
  • £9.16 today (18.9 kWh)

27% over PVGIS estimate for Feb with 2 days to go :)

This may be of interest to either or both; http://www.diykyoto.com/store/assets...gue_UK_web.pdf good quality build, you can see what wattage you have spare from your panels. If you want to maximise your generation on appliances, Optiplug & Optimmersion are certainly worth a look...:D

Hiya shavy. Don't worry about rED, it's your friend. It just means you've started to export leccy, so the meter is warning the meter reader that something 'unusual' has happened. As you have PV, it's fine and normal. Once triggered rEd will flash away now forever 24/7.

There is a tiny chance that your meter could be recording export as import. Keep an eye on it, and have a read of the FAQ section 4, the NB near the end:

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Thanks for that, I already use an immersion link up (Solic 200 I think it`s called), theory is amazing, but as its only been in for 3 days it`s too early for me to comment on it`s function.
I`m def looking into the optiplug though!

    thanks
