First full day of operating yday, now it seemed to me yesterday was an exceptional day of sunshine (up here in NE Scotland anyway) and apparently I generated 13.9 Kw, is this what I should expect?

I expected less to be honest....maybe I just got them installed on the right day!

First the bad news, the good days get averaged out by the bad days.

Now the good news, the bad days get averaged out by the good days.

Have fun with the new toy. :)

Will be adding to this soon, once I get my head round things. As a follow-up to the thread I hijacked on first joining, I've finally got the system installed. Unfortunately 7 SW panels wouldn't fit, so it's had to be 6 SW and 10 NE. Peaked so far today at 1.6kw, but chugging along now at about 600w generation.

    Haha thanks, appreciate both replies.

Got a couple of questions if you don`t mind....

    1. I see earlier in the thread some people are posting the amount in £`s they`ve generated.
Is this based on units generated x FiT....or....are u also adding the amount we make from exporting? (which is half of units generated x export rate (circa 5p???)). Sorry if this doesn`t make sence, I`m a bit confused with it all at the mo!

    2. As I`v only just got the system installed I`v not yet applied for the FiT from my supplier, doin it today, as I was waiting on MCS number, proof of EPC etc. I presume the first reading I submit will still include the days prior to apply for the FiT? (i.e yday, today and all days leading up to my application being accepted)

    Thanks in advance

Can't speak for all FITs providers but mine will pay you from the commissioning date providing you've submitted the paperwork within a week(i think) of that date. Basically the sooner you get it in the better. Its not from when your accepted, its when they acknowledge receipt

The £'s is the generation + export total. Bear in mind a lot on here are on the original FIT rate of 46.8p per unit generated and 3.3p(i think again) for export.

    1. I post £ and the figure I use is Generation + Export (but excluding savings on Electricity and Gas). Don't think I've ever written £ as generated only, if I have it was an unintentional mistake. I post £ as I find the 'O' a pointless tool and misleading by the main proponents who seem to think it allows fair comparison to different systems, it does not. Neither does the £, but I never said it did ;)

    2. Unless things have changed, when I registered my system I had to submit the reading at the time of paperwork application, think I lost 5 days readings (from actual system installed and working). No big loss, whether I get the lost days at the end or not.

    Cheers Tunnel.

So am I right in saying £`s are calculated by....

(Units generated x FiT) + (Half of units genrated x export rate)?

I think the export rate is 4.64p/kWh and my FiT is 14.9p

    Meaning yday I got 14 x 14.9 + 7 x 4.64 = £2.42 ???
Plus I guess I`m saving by using units I`m generating and through the use of my immersion link up.

Thanks for bearing with me and putting my mind at ease haha

    Cheers

    Thats bang right!!

If you have an immersion link too then i'm guessing you had a "free" tank of hot water too. Meaning you're saving on electric AND gas(if you use gas to heat your water).;)

I don't know what the present rates are, but taking your figures:

I believe you said you generated 13.9 kWh?

    So, to be pedantic ;)

    Generation 13.9 x 14.9 = £2.07
    Export 13.9 x 4.64 / 2 = £0.32
    Total = £2.39

The shallowish pitch of your roof should perform better in summer than winter (relatively), enjoy the numbers going up for the next few months :)

Ok ok sorry InVestor ur right it was 13.9 Kwh ;)

So what should I expect to make over a year with this sized system? Or is it too hard to say?

Stick your details in here and have a play. I put in Aberdeen and got 3500kWh generation based on your details. That would give you a yearly return of £605.85
