Of course it takes into account weather, and all of the other variables too!

All of the variables add up on any given day, week, month or year to give you a generation figure. All the O's do, is take that figure (that includes weather, location, orientation, pitch etc etc) and converts it into a figure that can be compared across any installation, of any size ...... anywhere in the world.

To say O's don't account for the variables, means you don't think generation reflects the variables??????

If one system has very good weather, it'll have very good generation ......... and therefore very good O's. Simples!

    Mart.

    You're missing the point..

For example a 4 kW system in the North of England generates 10 kWh on a sunny day there, the same day down South a 4 kW system only generates 1 kW due to fog or cloud or whatever.

What meaningful comparison is there? Other than a bit of fun, hey I beat your system..

    The 'O' is pointless.

The "O" is a real unit of output per rated standard of performance.
The "£" is a manipulated concept under the control of a centralised elite weakly controlled by a democratic process.
The kWh will still be the kWh years after many of the world's currencies have ended their life hanging on a nail in the smallest room in the house.

Dire December. A pathetic 35.26 kWh vs 40.47 in 2012 and 49.60 in 2011. My worst month ever.

Total for the year 1,734 kWh vs. 1,848 in 2012. PVGIS forecast for full year is 1,875 (SAF) or 1,686 (classic).

Gloomy start to 2014, I'll be lucky to get 0.05 kWh today.

    Happy New Year!

At least I'm doing better than Tunnel (a fairly near neighbour) with a whole 230Wh so far this year :j

December wasn't too bad in the end with 78kWh. That's 5kWh less than the previous December and about the same as Dec 2011. All December results were better than the pvgis estimate I was using a year ago but not quite so good as the revised estimates.

But at this time of year it's really not about usable generation - best I can hope for is about 5kWh in the 4 hours from 10am till 2pm. There have still been times when immersion heater has started up but probably only for a short period. But 78 lots of nearly 50p is now comfortably more than the pittance I would have received if the cash was sat in an ISA rather than spent on roof. And the really good news is that every month from now till June ought to be better than its predecessor :j :j :j

    0.04 O's; it can only get better.....:rotfl:  smiley-laughing021.gifcoffee.gif
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

kWh per kWp is a standard industry efficiency measurement so that is probably why it is being used to "even the odds" so to speak.

Best December for me since my system was installed. What that means is open to debate.

    Happy New Year!

How on Earth can the 'O' reflect comparison to systems not in the same location?

I'm baffled why people think the 'O' makes system comparison a 'level playing field'..

It can't, nor can your preferred measure which is income.

But I'm confused (not for the first time!) as you were the one who mentioned "even the odds" initially so you seem to be arguing with yourself.

Relax and enjoy the early January sunshine.
