Are the targets mentioned (pvgis) set by you personally or by your fit operator? I'm guessing it is a personal target but please excuse my ignorance. Also do "0"'s measure sunshine or performance?

It's a function of your location, rating of panels and the angles of alignment. You should be able to get your own estimate from here

They don't measure anything ! It's a derived unit intended to make it easier to compare output of one system with another but since it omits several crucial variables it can't do that very well either.

Not sure why I bothered to look, but all three forecasts are saying mostly cloudy with chances of some sunny intervals. Shan't be all that surprised if it snows :rotfl:

Well it didn't actually snow :D

I'm not altogether sure what the difference between "mostly cloudy with chances of some sunny intervals" and "sunny with some cloud" is but our day yield of 16.56 kWh was of course rather better than yesterday's whereas I took the forecast to be suggesting that today wouldn't be quite as good. But "I don't care what the weatherman says" !

Just looked at tomorrow's guess and it sounds less sunny than today was expected to be. Let's hope that their accuracy doesn't suddenly improve !:T

Thanks for all your help, we have chosen an owl display and have ordered one.
    Yesterday we made 4.69 O's :T

I made a load of wrong choices when my system was installed as well.....Big learning curve....:D

I think you may be losing the plot Eric; if O's are a waste of comparative information, then why post in kWh ? Are they not subject to the same criteria? You constantly harp on about the weather forecasts; this is subjected to a 1/4 mile radius; c'mon give them a break, they are not going to give you a forecast for your own personal Lat - Long are they? No offence intended.

Back to the office: 4.76 O's. Saved 61.6% off my Lecci bill over the current year todate (Since Nov 2012). coffee.gif

    £10.95 yesterday (22.6 kWh)

Back above annual forecast, amazing 2 months after the previous mostly poor 9 months. ;)
Swings and roundabouts I guess :T

Looks like 35% ROI for the first 2 years, glad I didn't listen to the idiots saying it wasn't a good investment 2 years ago. :D

My 'sig block' contains enough information for anyone who is interested to look up my pvgis forecast for themselves. All they would then need for comparison with their own system would be the daily output (expressed in same units as pvgis).

No, your 'O' units are not subject to the same criteria : they ignore location and panel angles.

I suppose I ought to get in on the act...

19.5kwh yesterday (4.87Os ;-) ). Just as important is that I've imported an average of 2.15 units a day since installation (yesterday 1.534), used no gas and have had plenty of hot water.

I'm sure there's an itsy-bitsy bit of shading at the end of the day from the scaffolding, that is still up..

  • Today looks as if it is going to be great for generation! :j

15 kw each for the last two days.

As part of my learning curve I've been looking at how much power each of our appliances use. I'm really shocked at the oven, 10 kw, that's massive. I will not be able to generate enough to run it, is everybody else in the same boat? The Oven is fairly old....maybe newer ones are less.
