Oscar is right 70kWh is good, in fact very good. At 2.33kWh a day it would take a lot to beat that even from the guys on this thread.

Just out of interest what do others import per day? I am asking as this may prove to ajbell that he is in fact doing well with his low import.

    Edwink ;)

    You're right, very impressive.

Here are my targets. Target is probably the wrong term, a figure around about which I expect to consume(?) or something like that:-

    J - 200kWh
    F - 160kWh
    M - 130kWh
    A - 100kWh
    M - 90kWh
    J - 80kWh
    J - 80kWh
    A - 100kWh
    S - 115kWh
    O - 145kWh
    N - 170kWh
    D - 200kWh

    T - 1,570kWh

    Since PV:-
Monthly - highest actual import 218kWh, and lowest 68kWh.
    Annual - highest 1,613kWh, lowest 1,545kWh.

My generating profile from having shallowish off south panels doesn't help. I have very low gen in the winter (Dec target 82kWh) and very high gen in the summer (June target 634kWh).

Perhaps an EV and E7 would be a good idea, plus a travel kettle. :embarasse

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

In March (and Feb) this year we imported 200kWh (generated about 355kWh, exported 35kWh) but we do have some hungry devices running, even though we are LED throughout.

We have 3 fridge-freezers, each of which swallows about 1.2kWh per day.

Then there is the broadband router, immerSUNs, inverters, garage door mechanism, IP camera and and and. These all sit there swallowing their 3-7W 24/7. I have the wifi smart switch to turn a chunk of these off when not in use knocking 20W off the menu for about 20 hours a day but some things just need to run.

I do run a web server which swallows a constant 12W and that Virgin Tivo box sucks 14W 24/7 too (in standby) and the washing machine, which cannot easily be turned off at the mains (well, not until the new kitchen gets done later this year...) sucks a constant 4W. The list goes on...

What astounded me when I purchased one of those energy measuring plug devices was that things like the coffee machine or PC screen and even extension lead in the garage (with earth leakage detector built in) were sucking the odd Watt or two when turned off but not at the wall. I reckon that extension lead had been sucking 2W for about 5 years without me knowing, costing me about £10!

So, we could give up the third fridge-freezer and facilitate turning off various other things at the wall/with smart sockets but for now we are about as low as we can go I think. For instance, if we turned every light on in the house we would now use less than we used to use in the kitchen!

    Hope this helps:beer:

I use a 600w kettle, takes 210 seconds to boil half a litre.
Can usually find 600w to spare.
