Let me guess ... Daily Express? They are obsessed with the weather and print endless rubbish about it, usually on the front page. I hope you're right though!

Edit: only lasts until Sunday according to my local forecast, then back to the usual intermittent clouds and rain.

    oh well

has been a cracking start to the month tho :j

What if I didn't check the Meter tonight, it will mean my addiction of last 3 month might be over :)
I am addicted to the generation meter :)

Ooops, just thought that your daily log was from your monitor. My GM only has one decimal point. Thought they all had.:)
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Since I have got your spreadsheet I have been using the GM for the reading. Before I did look at the reading during the day, now I do it at night :)

My GM has 2 numbers after decimal point :)

Pretty scary that that can happen - do you know what caused it? Mine's never done it. You say that the moral is to make routine checks but what could you have done?

The inverter is a Sunny Boy 3000HF and the error was Grid Failure, Error 8, call installer. If I'd spotted it then I could have tried to restart it and may have had more success but could have arranged a call out before or while we were away rather than having to do it when we got back having lost the generation. At least now I know that if it does happen again to turn off for a longer period before restarting again.

It isnt something that has happened before even when we have had power cuts. No idea why it happened this time, it doesn't appear that we had a power cut as other devices at home had not been reset but I guess some other "blip" in the power may have been sufficient.

On the plus side we had 18.5kWh yesterday so making up for lost time now!
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Jim, did anything in the CU trip? I know little more than this, but have read that installing PV on the 30mA side might trip, but on the 100mA side (if possible) shouldn't.

Sorry I don't know more, or if at all relevant. I'm sure others can advise further or discount completely.

Sounds like a grid issue, not a problem with the inverter itself: http://www.allecoenergy.co.uk/newsletter/images/Files/Website_Updates/SMA/SMA_Installation_Guide_2000_2500_3000_HF.pdf (p.65)

Have I got it wrong? It sounded good, because I remember my neighbour talking about household rules and limits (he runs a team of electricians for the University). He mentioned that putting lights and fridge/freezer on 100mA was useful in case of trips. But if I remember correctly he also said something about leading to additional requirements like steel capping to protect cables. Anyways, apologies for waffling, probably miles off the mark here.

Oh I don't know, you're probably right, I just thought it was more likely to be amps than milliamps, but now I think about it, 30A is a heck of a lot (7.2kW @ 240V), 100A even more so, so I'm probably talking rubbish.
