warm home discount scheme

I recently learned that my wife and I are eligible for a £135 rebate under the warm home discount scheme as we are in fuel poverty.
However, the discount will not appear on my bill from First Utility until March 2014.
Using various compare sites indicates I could save by leaving First Utility for new company OVO on a fixed term of 12 months.
What would happen to the rebate if I changed?
Would I have to apply again as it is on a first come first served basis - according to the info I received before I applied.
Thanks ever so much.

You would have to reapply. I'm pretty certain you would be too late to get this year's payment with any new provider, and last time I checked OVO do not offer the WHD. Unless the difference is substantial, I would stay where you are for now.0 -
i pay by direct debit and can see scottish power are going to play the same games they played last year!
just sent a meter reading and my account is £60 in credit and they want to put my payments up by £25 a month to cover the period til april.
'but i qualify for the warm home scheme and so there is £135 to be credited to my account in time for that bill' i say.
we dont care they say, we will lower your payments after april to reflect this!
so all summer i underpay because there is a large amount of credit due to the fact that they ignore the WHD.
they dont know their @rses from their elbows!come aprul, scottish power will drop my payments ridiculously low again (£28 a month and im all electric) because the WHD will put me so far in credit.
then the same thing will happen again next winter and they will hike the pauments up again.
i dont know why they refuse to see the whole picture and just allow me to set the amount of my DD to around £35 a month all year

Difference is c.300 so will wait for March to get the first discount paid then change to a 12 month fixed rate without the discount.
I will then review again.0 -

you wouldn't get it, but the March date is just the date the Money will be paid by, they could pay it sooner.
I'm with BG and they have credited my account already with the £135.0 -

it's a freephone number if you are on a payment meter 0800 294 8604 or 0800 072 8625 if on a bill, or you can email them.
I got mine through the end of Jan, did you apply for it in time? you should have gotten on letter to say whether you got the discount or not.
