    Evening all.

Taxi - do you know, I have no idea about colours at the moment! It kind of all hinges on the dress. Now, I must have tried on about 60 dresses and don't get me wrong, there are some lovely dresses, but I've not yet found the one that makes me feel really special (or THE DRESS squeeeeeaaaaaalllllllll as it's known on another forum I go on ;) ). I might upload pictures of the one's I like the most into photobucket so you can all tell me which ones you like!

It's a Christmas wedding though so I'd love there to be a wintery feel, slivers, golds, whites that sort of thing. But we went to the venue just before Christmas last year to see how they'd decorated it and it's all reds and greens so much more traditional. Gosh, I just don't know  I have been a good DFW though and have been scouting for our table decorations in the sales. There are some lovely sparkly wreaths which would be great with some ikea pillar candles. Much more bargainous than flowers on every table methinks!

So, who wants to help me choose a dress then?

    Ooooh me me me!! D

I got married nearish chrimbo - 1st nov and we had a kind of cream and burgundy theme - not necessarily what we would have chosen, just with 6 weeks you take the easy route!! :) I got my dress in Alders for £50 (sale) and loved it - felt all wrong in other types of dresses :)

One wedding i went to had lovely candles surrounded by (homemade) wreath type things - with beads etc threaded onto wire - just lovely.

SEEEEEAAAAAA!!! Hello. Do you know, we've both been here the same length of time. So glad to see some of the old faces still here! I feel a bit lost sometimes!

Ok, just for you, have uploaded the dress shortlist into photobucket. Hope this works!

The bottom four are the ones I like the most. That said, the first one is the one I saw in a magazine and totally loved when I tried it on but when I showed it to little sis she hated it!!! Oh well.

Now, this is sooooooooo not DFW and I know there'll be some who will want to flame me but I do have a very generous amount for the dress. I've done the budget and it's all achievable even with the impending redundancy. So....... what do you think??

    Right...

First one I really do like - although is it draining (ie of the colour of your face? ) as it looks a little so in the pic - but it could be the model/pic itself that's dodgy. What did your sis not like about it?

    Second - ok.

third - my god! That's a dress to make an impact in! Certainly good for showing off show stopping curves :D

fourth - ooh I like this :) very pretty. It's also very easy to then tie in accessories and themes and colours for the wedding to this.

    fifth - sorry, not keen

    sixth - well, it's different!!

seventh - it is very princessy but is it silver? looks a little bit more like a ball gown than wedding dress, but that could be the pphoto?

eighth - very floaty ooking - a little like ghost dresses, nice if that's your style.

    My favs are 3 & 4 :D

Of course, they might look entirely different on and not in a strange position!!

just looked at statement dress though and it's growing on me - I think if she wasn't in that rather odd position I would like it more - I can bet it would be breathtaking.

  • 3, 6 & 7 (although would help to see the bottom of it!) for me!! 3 is gorgeous but hard to say precicesly as I dont know what you look like!! At the end of the day it is your day & you should go with the one you love! Prob not very DFW but its a once in a lifetime so within reason stuff the budget! Have you tried ebay - my cousin got a gorgeous dress that she tried on in the shop but knockdown price...worth a try! let us know which one you pick! The silvery one is different but that makes it more interesting!

Oooh. You two are the greatest. I love MSE. I've had more constructive comments from you two than anyone who's come with me to see the dresses! Thanks gals. :D

3 was a bit of a bolt out of the blue. The shop assistant recommended it and I never knew I had curves like that but it worked! The gold was really nice with me red hair too.

6 is a contentious one. I do like it a lot but my little sister doesn't. I've only tried it on in a size 8 though (I'm an hourglass 16/18 top and bottom, 14 middle) which mean that it was just sitting funny with all the seams in the wrong place.

7 believe it or not is actually ivory. I can't find a better photo of it anywhere. It's got kind of cut away apron where the skirt parts to show a chiffony type material with silver flowery stars on. It's very nice and my mum and aunty were a bit weepy when I tried it on. I just always thought I'd have a dress with more detail.

8 is actually a very structured and quite full skirt. Underneath all that floatiness is a structured corsetted taffeta so it's not as ghost like as it looks. This one has been winning so far but that might be because the shop sample fitted me like a glove and so you can really see what it's supposed to look like.

Gosh! This is all sooooooo confusing. I need to take you two with me really don't it!! ;)
