Sorry you're not well Mola, tonsilitis is just horrible! If you are well enough to eat something, ready salted crisps really help (I have no idea why - you would think they would just hurt - but I get tonsilitis regularly and I swear by them). Also, drink water at room temperature, not cold - cooled boiled water from the kettle is best.

Well done on your bargainous (love that word) magazine subscription too!

Hey Fishy. How's you? Sorry for not popping in on your diary thread much. To be honest I've not had much time to get on here recently. I leave for work at 6:20am and don't get back until 8pm by which point I'm knackered! No surprise none of the newbies know me but then I'm probably best lurking a bit more as I'm finding it all a bit tough going. It's quite difficult to continue being up, up, up, up, up, all the time when you're long hauling it, and I've definitely moved out of the enthusiastic phase so I think I would be more of a put off for newbies rather than a source of encouragement!! ;) I do miss the old gang though but am friends with SS (the female one) on facebook and from her updates it looks like she's really enjoying motherhood.:j

Snaggles - another great piece of advice. :D Do you know, someone else told me that before (one of the many other times when I've had tonsilitis - I seem to get it all the time too) so you must be on to something. My sister swears by hula hoops and lucozade but that doesn't seem to do it for me! Copious amounts of orange squash and lots of cuppas and being cosy in my duvet with MSE and a trashy novel seems to be doing me the world of good!

I'd like to say that being ill has helped me achieve some no spend days but yesterday I had to get my prescription and whilst waiting, bought some fruit and a book to cheer me up (and to make sure I stayed in bed). This morning I had to run the OH to the station (don't get me started - he can drive but he doesn't like to - not even when I really should be getting loads of bed rest and keeping warm) and so I had to get petrol what with it being the start of the month and all. Sigh.......

Hey Mola! How are you feeling? Any better today? Don't worry about the few bits and pieces you've spent, just concentrate on getting yourself better. I don't know about you, but with tonsilitis, I always seem to have a couple of REALLY bad days, then a couple of slightly better days, then a couple of REALLY bad days again, so just take it easy.

Fishy - I'll "poke" SS (don't worry, it's a facebook thing) when I'm next on there from you and tell her to PM you for a chat.

Snaggles - I know exactly what you mean - I think I've had an up day and now I am sooooo on a bad day. I seem to have developed a terrible headache which hurts everytime I move my head. Fab. And my antibiotics do not agree with me but I won't go into detail, it's not pleasant. :o

I struggled into work yesterday for a meeting that no-one else knows how to do and was supposed to only do a half day. I ended up working from 8am to 3.15pm with no break. That's a full day in office terms! No wonder today I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

So, am staying home today and tomorrow to get some rest. Whilst the bad news is that I was up at 5am this morning (that'll be the antibiotics and the headache), the good news is that things have calmed down a little on the bank accounts front and I was able to get a much clearer picture of where I am this month. I've allocated myself £40 spending money for the month, which could be tight but achievable (provided that M-I-L 2B keeps in enough suitable food for lunches - not been happening so far:mad: ).

It also means that when my expenses come in (£310) I can use this as an overpayment on my egg loan, so perhaps I will hit the sub 18k mark this month after all!!!! So exciting!:T

Just a quick update from me. :hello:

The tonsilitis and cold went. I went back to a mental week at work last week but got through it. And now that it's Saturday I have managed to pick up yet another cold. Fabulous. Perhaps it's going to be one of those winters

The good news is that the expenses have come in and £300 has been paid to my Egg Loan (on top of my minimum payment). So, the total debt now rests at...... wait for it........

    £17,982.27

    I'm under the 18K mark.. Wooooo hooooo! :T :j :D

    Hello debt watchers :hello:

I've not posted for a while, things have been busy busy busy. Just checking in really. My debt sig is out of date but the figures are on my pc at home so can't work it out right now. However, I can remeber that I've now paid off 60% of my original debt and will be below the 16K mark in January! (Long story, I had to take on a grand's worth of additional debt down to my OH mismanaging his credit card. I'd be under 16K now if I hadn't had to do that! grrrrrr.)

Other than that just putting up with the horrid commute and honing that CV for when my job finishes mid 2008. It's all a bit of a nightmare but something will come up I'm sure.

I'm off to catch up with some of the latest threads and enjoy a cuppa on work. Looking forward to catching up on all your news.

    Hellllooooooooooooo debt busters :hello:

It's been some time since I got on here to post. Wedding stuff and work and life has generally been getting in the way recently. Rest assured though, I have been keeping an eye on you all and lurking in the background.

So, what's new in the world of Mola.

    1) I've had a really quite uncomfortable month in January and progress wasn't as great as I'd hoped unfortunately. However, debts were duly paid. Budget was almost stuck to and pay day has been so now we're happy bunnies.

    2) Wedding is progressing nicely. Church, reception and photographer all booked, notice given, started marriage prep course (and there's a thread all of it's own - so strange). The dress is still eluding me though. For some reason (and you'll ALL understand this) I'm just not into shopping these days. Can't fathom why

    3) For those of you keeping up, and aware of my looming summer time redundancy, well, that's still on the cards. So CV is nice and up to date and I'm scouring those job boards on a daily basis. I did have a job interview (I won't bore you with the details) but lets just say that I didn't much like them and I'm sure they didn't like me. I've had better interviews (i.e. one's where I've not got shirty with the chair of the panel) and so needless to say, my rejection letter arrived yesterday. Oh well, I didn't want the job anyway. No.... seriously..... I really didn't want the job :p

    4) Due to last month's tight month, we've both decided to hold off on the wedding saving for February. We just need a bit of a breather and to get back on track. We're both putting what we would have saved onto our debts instead with the result being that OH has finally got himself out of his overdraft (provided he sticks to budget this month) and my debt total is really looking quite encouraging.

So, here's the bit you've all been waiting for....... wait for it........

Total debt as of 1st Feb is: £14,416.52!!!! :j
Am under the 15K mark. Woooo hooooooo!

And for posterity (and because I get confused) here's the low down

    Egg Loan: £7,743.43
    HSBC Loan: £4,823.76
    & More Card: £1,894.33
    Post Office Card: NIL
    A&L Overdraft: NIL

    Happy February everyone!
