Been with Sky about 10 years, mostly on full package
rang Sky in January for an offer
grovelled, "skint, can't afford it" nothing offered so I said I reluctantly would have to cancel.
Got a letter with my cancel date.
A couple of days before cancel date rang Sky, very polite, grovelled again, still nothing.
Held my nerve like many on here advise and did nothing, no phone calls and now Sky is no more, and I have to say the world has not caved in.
It seems to be a lottery who gets the offers and who don't, perhaps female charm works, but as a Yorkshire bloke, well need I say more.
Now with BT Vision, certainly much cheaper, not as polished as Sky but it records, pauses etc and the picture is perfect. I will as a matter of principle hold out for a year, at which point I believe I will be classed as a new Sky customer, the thing is, do I want to keep ringing Sky up every 6/12 months begging for offers, I sincerely hope not.0 -
I would love to join in and tell Sky I want to leave but if they actually let me leave I'm stuck as I don't have an aerial so would have to factor in that outlay before leaving Sky.
Unless anyone has any bright ideas...?0 -

I just called and only got offered phone rental for £1 per month for 12 months, so £11.25 saving a month.
I currently pay £70 per month, with HD package, Sports and internet and phone. Was hoping for more but they wouldn't offer anything else even when i said about dropping the sports as football is shortly finishing nothing.0 -

By talking about cancelling it became a cancellation call.
If you then want to downgrade that's fine as it still counts as an account save.
A downgrade can escalate to a cancellation call but it doesn't work the other way, so that's why they won't offer anything for downgrading after discussing cancellation. You need to go to PAT dept. for those offers on a different call.
Retention hasn't had a half-price offer for 4 or 5 months now.
It was also removed from inbound pending-cancel calls recently - probably due to discussions like this one.0 -
Hi all. Hope you can offer some advice to me. I have been with SKY for about 12 years. I cancelled once and was offered a half price deal for 12 months which expired week before last Christmas. Not wishing to lose Movies, sport etc over Christmas I let the contract roll and it went to full price. I have broadband, entertainment, movies and sport but am still using old Sy box - no HD, no Sky+. Sky called me a few weeks ago but only to offer me HD and phone calls at an additional cost. I told them I couldn't afford any more and said I was a bit miffed that I was paying same price as someone with Sky plus but without the benefit. I was told there was nothing they could do. Is my only option to cancel and see if they then offer a better deal?0
