Our first two rescue cats were adults from a local shelter; huge black and white boy we called Riff-Raff and a petite, dainty, longhaired white and black lady we called Magenta. They were both exceptional personalities and became famous amongst our neighbours! Riff was the calmest, most composed, happy-in-his-fur cat I've ever known. Massive all over, but the gentlest, most loving giant of a cat. Both lived to ripe old ages and Magenta was more than 20 years old. I miss them still.

mmmmmm not a Sunderland supporter by any chance?:D

    Yep :D

The black dog is currently wearing a very fetching pair of pink pyjama bottoms to stop her licking at a leg wound as well - THAT'S a funny picture to look at!
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!

I think it's awful that black and white cats aren't wanted. I don't have black and white cats but one of mine was from a home who no longer wanted her and she was mistreated. The other one I took in when my mum moved away and couldn't take him. I'd never not take a cat because of the colour of it's fur!

Got my little boy last year... I would only have a black and white cat or a black one... He is a tinker but I love him (it was his 1st birthday last week!)

They say black and white cats are the naughtiest... but I think they're the cutest! xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.

  • I've had a black and white cat Kimmy and she was the most special cat a person could ever have had. I would definatley have another black and white but I wouldnt have another tortoiseshell as my current one is very bad tempered and has been since being a kitten.

We went to a rescue centre on Saturday to pick out a new cat and and 75-80% of the cats looking for a new home were black or black and white. Don't quite understand the preference for a tortoiseshell, ginger cat or pedigree, we weren't fussed and the cat we've chosen (and who seemed to like us!) is black and white.

Funny thing was, my DS said to me last week, 'Mum, when we choose a cat, can we have a perfect one, please, you know, with four legs'? I think he's cottoned on to the fact that I have fondness for cats with one eye, one ear or 3 legs! Did make me giggle though.
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?
