Hi Emz, yes I sympathise with your funk. I have just turned another big birthday, and have been wondering the same thing. I have never done a job I WANTED to do, just fallen into them to pay the bills for example.

Ref the debt busting how are you doing with that now. Ie will you be able to use the free air tickets soon because the debts will be manageable? If they aren't at that point can any of them be moved onto low apr cards to make snowballing your debts easier?

I understand how frustrating it must be ref the flights. It depends on where you want to go though. Eg if you wanted to come to new zealand, there are youth hostels here to stay in cheaply, or even a stay on peoples couch scheme where you do just that. So it may be worth checking out this type of alternative accomodation in the country you want to go to....? I don't know how much the CF would stop you utilising this sort of basic accommodation though....

Thanks Chev. I know everyone goes through this at some point as they get older. I seem to do it every year. It's just not knowing how my illness is going to pan out really. Guess there's no point in dwelling on it, or I will just aid the process of getting worse. Just need to do my treatments and hope for the best.

I think you have me confused with Elantan regarding the free flights. I would love to get free flights, but would be in the same position as Elantan in terms of affording accommodation.

Hi Emz - hope you're adding to that list of things you want to do :D

Agree so much with what ZTD said - what you want to do is what's important not what you feel like you should have done.

My OH obsesses about the fact he dropped out of uni and considers it a failure, I never went at all and don't consider it anything at all. I don't regret that at all and he only feels bad because he feels that's what he should have done to have succeeded in society's eyes.

I don't mind not having kids, not getting married and not owning a house at this point and don't mind if that never happens at all as travelling is what makes me happy but that could make the next person totally miserable.

The biggest achievement in life is being happy so don't worry about what makes other's happy - find what works for you.

I'm sure if you ask people who know you well they could make a long list of what they think you have achieved as we are always harder on ourselves.

Look forward to hearing some of your ideas :)

Woke up this morning with a really bad sore throat. Think it's the start of a cold, but really hoping it's just hayfever. Got the hospital a week today (MOT time = lots and lots of tests :(), so if it is a cold and I still have it by then, I'm sure they will give me IVs. I get the impression that they are itching to put me on IVs and that is just the excuse they will need.

I'm sure that isn't helping with my downcast mood recently. Another thing that isn't helping is that OH's parents are coming here on Wednesday. Only found out last night. It's supposedly for my birthday, but that's next week. I think they are coming down for another reason personally.

Thanks for your messages everyone by the way. Hoping I'll snap out of this mood soon.

Thanks Beccie. I've started a new Day Zero list. My old one was pretty much full of random things that I just put on to fill it up. Problem is, every single item on my new list requires money :o.

Money causes lots of problems with my ideas too! :o

Is there anything you can think of that doesn't?

If it involves getting out and about are there free versions/vouchers/deals?

Do you like making things and already have a stash of bits so it will be cheap?

Is there something about yourself you would be happier of you changed? ie more exercise - walking is free. Pampering yourself - do your nails with varnish you already have?

Or can you break the goals down into bits - ie if you can do this one specific thing you'll have money to do the next bit and so forth. Might seem more achievable then? :)

Nothing on there that I could do more cheaply at the moment. I've got 46 things on there, but most of those are one big thing split into smaller goals.

I'm going to start entering more competitions and see how I get on with those. Might have to get some 'funds' going to achieve some of them. Will also post my list when it's finished.

    Hi Emz

Hope you don't mind me joining in. You sound to be doing really well with your Amazon vouchers!
I think everybody feels a bit down in life every now and then. I certainly do. I'm turning 26 this year but last year I felt exactly the same as you do now (I know very young but I'm a very deep thinker) I left college half way through my diploma course due to home circumstances and never found the time to go back. I'm currently saving to do the equivelant course with the at home courses. The thing that always gets me thinking is when I left college my dad saying as long as you go back cos I don't want you working at x all your life!
Well I left my supermarket job so not there any more lol!
Keep your chin up and you'll get through.
PS what sites do you use to get so many amazon vouchers? Would be really grateful if you could let me know/refer etc. I'm on swagbucks and a bingo one (woo?? something, it's on home pc so can't quite remember)

    Hi Shortstop :)

Welcome and of course I don't mind you joining in. I guess everyone has little panics when they approach birthdays, no matter how old they are. I'm sure I'll be okay once my big hospital appointment is out of the way. Just dreading it to be honest.

I will PM you about the sites that I go on to get Amazon vouchers.

:p Definitely got a cold. Please let it disappear before Monday :(.

Finished off those damn surveys yesterday (they were so long and boring), so £30 should be winging its way to me soon.

Also claimed a £5 Amazon voucher from Superpoints yesterday. I got a £10 voucher last week which I don't think I mentioned. Spent it yesterday on a pair of headphones though. I've been listening to my iPod a lot whilst working recently (not as distracting as the TV!) but I've only got the put in your ear type earphones which kill my ears after an hour or so. I've ordered some proper headphones.

My list of stuff to get from Amazon always seems never-ending. We still need a cordless phone and the Brita filter thingy is about to run out too. I bet once I've got those, there is something else that needs buying.
