Grrrr, sellers sending stuff recorded without telling you

Does this hack anyone else off? I am not in to sign for things during the day, so if I knew they would be sent recorded I would arrange for delivery to my work instead.
As it happens, I now have to go to the sorting office before work to pick them up - which is in the opposite direction from my house to work, and a right pain in the backside when I have to cycle.
That's twice in a week!
That is all.

Yes it does hack me off, especially when it's a really cheap item & it costs more to go & fetch it than it cost.0

Our postie just signs for them, and delivers anyway.0

You can redirect them to a different address in the same postcode area.0

My INR claims dropped away completely after I switched to recorded delivery a few years ago.
tracking (and actually recorded is not a tracked service) only covers against a false claim for INR, nothing else. Obviously if people believe all buyers are scammers then they might feel recorded gives them peace of mind. The majority of sellers though recognise that scams are few and far between and there is therefore no need to pay 77p for each item.
Personally if I thought eveyone was a scammer I'd give up online selling rather than waste money on a sub standard service. I never sign for recorded here and even on this short thread others have said the same, what a waste of 77p that is.
In fact if someone used recorded and hadn't advertised it then I assume they were thinking I was a scammer, which is one more reason why I would object to a seller sending recorded when I wasnt expecting it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. using recorded (signed-for) delivery is a matter of choice and we clearly differ on this.
Particularly, I meant to thank soolin as she pointed out some time ago that not all such recorded (signed-for) delivered items actually get signatures upon receipt and that you could claim compensation for this.
I have been doing this and it has proved most profitable. Although I no longer sell regularly, I dug out the records of my old sales and claimed COMPENSATION on those without signatures.
As soolin stated, you get a book of 1st class stamps (value today £2.76) for each missing signature for an investment of only 77p, and RM are not very good at getting signatures.
I am currently in considerable stamp excess....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

Well remembered, I do miss all my books of stamps and have actually had to buy some !
Sammy is quite correct though, each time you have a delivered recorded item that has not updated online you can claim back your 77p, but usually get a book of stamps and an apology.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can't understand why someone wouldn't put on the listing they were sending it recorded if they planned to? I see it as a plus point when I'm buying.
Like many I'm not at home during the day, but I just have everything sent to my work address in case it needs a signature / is too big for my letter box etc.0 -

Recorded is of no benefit to a buyer at all though. You don't need an item sent recorded to have different addresses registered with paypal, I have several addresses on my paypal and if I am buying for my mother or my sons I just choose the appropriate address when I check out and have the item sent direct.
The postage method makes no difference at all to that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
