People on here who fail to comprehend that most people on Ebay are just clearing out their junk, make me laugh.:D

You really do believe that Ebay was invented in the last couple of years for business users, don't you?:rotfl:

    I don't care why they're selling.
You appear to think they're doing the buyer a favour though.
I only use ebay for unimportant purchases.
I normally don't mind if I receive the item or not, so long as I get my money back, and can buy another one elsewhere.

If your not bothered, then why jump in on the side of those who believe damaging someones feedback is OK, just cos they changed the postage method?

The seller might not be doing buyer a favour - but decent people appreciate another decent persons efforts.

If the seller - who may be losing their home and are trying to survive until payday - arrives at the post office and is told another service is better - who are the judgemental people on here to say they should be punished for it?

As i say - nasty people just love picking fault. I appreciate decent buyers AND sellers on Ebay - and will fight their corner against nastiness anytime. And if a seller sends me something that i would struggle to find on sale in the shops, then yes - i think they HAVE done me a favour!!!

    It's ebay.
There's another 50 people listing the same thing somewhere.

I'd rather get the item, thanks all the same. I don't have time or money to give sellers interest free loans for two weeks while they come up with the goods. Other places are just as bad, though.

Both buyer and seller greed is a problem, but seller greed is dangerous because sellers have all the power and control over whether/how the item is sent. Buyer protection has evolved to bring that back into balance - and eBay is not the only place which featherbeds buyers, not by a long chalk.

eBay is not just all about one type of seller. It has evolved as a platform and has to adhere to all the rules of the road. And in the outside world it's normally buyers keeping sellers going, so I don't expect eBay to be any different. If you think your buyers owe you a living, you are going to end up VERY disappointed.

  • Two more examples today, one going to a large hospital the other to a university, both would normally go standard but have been upgraded. The best example however is a customer who has as part of their address:

"If no answer please let outside door. Do not return to post office."

I'm sorry but as I'm responsible for the parcel, if they ain't in, it goes back. Some may see this as poor CS but if the buyer has special requirements they should ask before hand and I would rather turn the sale down than have my parcel sitting on someone's doorstep because sods law it will go missing and I'll be the one paying for the loss.

We had another customer who ordered 3 items, normally they'd be split in 2 parcels but because of the overall cost they are going SD.

There isn't a one size fits all option and our T&Cs cover our actions.

As for private sellers, some may not know what an item is worth, I've seen many clearing out games for most to sell for a few pounds and one to go for silly money because it's rare. I'm sure both buyer and seller would be happy for it to be sent securely so the treasured item has less chance of going walkabout.
