Grrrr, sellers sending stuff recorded without telling you

Last RM claim I put in for recorded not updating online, they went and dug out all the flipping signatures and posted copies of them to me.
They insisted it didn't need to update online, they just needed to get a sig.
And what's this about BMAC no longer paying ebay sellers? I have another claim to put through - surely if you pay for a service and they insure it up to 100 1st class stamps, then they should fulfill their side of the contract.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I think people are getting confused- Recorded Delivery and Tracked are two different services, the latter being available to volume business sellers. Also Tracked generally has more tracking - hence the names, for one you get (or are supposed to) a record of delivery and the other is a fairly well tracked service.0

I absolutely hate it when sellers do this. I'm out all day and can't have things delivered to my work (secure site), and the nearest post office is 10 miles from my house. My neighbor is elderly and has a difficult time signing his name, but some couriers do ask him to take delivery of my items even though this is very unfair on him.
There's just no convenient way for me to receive items if they require a signature, so I would never knowingly bid on something sent this way. If it's stated in the listing, fine, I just won't bid, or else I'll bid and get the item shipped to my mother in law who lives 150 miles away and who we visit about once a month. If it's not stated and they require a signature anyway then it's a real pain, especially for cheap items that are absolutely not worth all the hassle.0 -

When I first started claiming (which was after using the RM account for nearly a year and having spent about £12000) I was put through to BMAC who took all my details and then asked where I sell, as soon as eBay was mentioned they said they couldn't help and to claim via the usual methods.
At the time I was told BMAC only requires you to provide the odd invoice, etc. Basically they give you a bit of trust and randomly spot check.
Despite having a years track record with them and being a legit, VAT registered business as I'm an eBay seller I apparently don't deserve their trust. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Item start price 99p
If seller puts tracked - and it sells for 99p - seller still has to post it tracked, to prevent the nasty folk leaving a neg or low stars.
So he puts standard mail instead.
But then the item sells at £60 (or the high bidder as poor feedback). So, for protection, he now sends it tracked (at his own expense). Nasty folk leave a neg or low stars.
Conclusion - some folk are never pleased and will find any excuse to be nasty.0 -

Conclusion - seller should get their listing right in the first place, and not expect buyers to have to run around after them.
If the buyer isn't home all day, signed for will become an INR.0 -

How is a seller supposed to know what an item may actually end up selling for. They may start it at 0.99p as they have no idea of its final value in ebay land. As we all know some people will pay way over the odds for items they can buy cheaper in the shops.
So in this case how would you get the listing right ?:footie: Rando0 -

You write it exactly as techspec has said.
List the postage cost as first class, and state if it goes for anything over £x, it'll be sent tracked.
Then I could bid, or not.
But if a buyer decides on a whim to change the post type, without thinking it through, it's no ones fault but theirs if they can't plan ahead and it comes back.
Any decent online company can manage to state something like "parcels up to £x sent by RM, over that will be by UPS" or similar.
I can then choose delivery address accordingly.0 -

Don't try talking common sense.

People on here who fail to comprehend that most people on Ebay are just clearing out their junk, make me laugh.:D
You really do believe that Ebay was invented in the last couple of years for business users, don't you?:rotfl:0
