Grrrr, sellers sending stuff recorded without telling you

They don't send RM tracked.
No "real" business does, it's a waste of money, and it annoys the customers.
If it'll fit in an envelope, and goes RM, it's first class post.
If it won't they'll use a courier, purely because it's more cost effective than parcel post.
It tends to be the non-professional sellers that used RM and signed for.
Ive had tracked items from Argos eBay0 -
Sending recorded without informing me wouldn't really bother me as if I wasn't home and the parcel was too big for the letter box then I would still have to collect from the sorting office unless of course the postman left in a safe place or with a neighbour, which a lot do with recorded anyways.
I ordered an item off eBay last week which is £2.50 to buy new in store. I paid £2.80 with free delivery. Even though I didn't check the delivery details I was expecting the item to be posted 2nd class standard. To my surprise it was delivered 1st class recorded so the seller will only make a few pence or nothing at all. My postman signed it himself and posted it through my door. My friends item (from same seller) was posted through the door without a signature which is not unusual.
I checked the listing and it does state '1st class recorded' post. I then checked the sellers feedback and quite a few were claiming item not received but seller followed up the feedback with a reply stating the tracking number which showed a signature for the item so it does seem some are trying to claim non receipt even though the item was showing as signed and delivered.
The seller is registered as a business seller and sells a lof of these items but I just can't understand why they post out recorded delivery when they could be making 77p on each item instead of pennies or giving the item away.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
you mean a crazy idea, like getting stuff delivered to where they live?
madness......
Maybe some sellers think the customer is home all day, without any real job, because they're just selling the odd item from their back bedroom.
If it fits in an envelope, I expect it to be sent first class.
Just that, not expecting me waiting in to sign for a 2.99p item.
If the seller doesn't send it first class, for whatever reason, I won't be chasing it, or trying to collect it from the local sorting office. It can go back, or be incinerated for all I care.
If someone decides to sell online, decent delivery has to be part of the package.
If a seller can't mange that part of the business, they're not a good seller, and I won't have any problem with an INR.0 -
Amazon certainly have tracked parcels but their volume gets them excellent prices, the rest of us have to use what's affordable.

What do you class as 'decent'? As I think the term you are looking for is convenient rather than decent, in which case pick a seller who has terms that suit your needs and you won't have any problems. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
heard of Amazon? M&S? Maplin? BT? Hawkins Bazaar?
all big tracked users
plus many more
Amazon (actually Amazon, not a seller on there), never been tracked for anything if it was RM. I use them reguarly as well.
Maplin the same.
If it's been a courier fair enough, but any RM has just been first class.

Amazon do not require any signature though and my goods are always left on my door step regardless if I am in or not. Not sure if they pay for tracking but they certainly don't get it here.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
