why on earth are you all wasting your hard earned £10 on these piles of rubbish? surely its easier to buy a cheap epson or canon then buy carts for it?
how much time are you guys gonna waste "refilling" them, how much mess etc????
much simpler in the long run imo!!
this one - ip 1500 is 45 quid

Good advice, the one from comet is only £34.99 delivered and is a much better printer quality and speed wise. Also much easier and cheaper to buy new carts. This dell one is ok for very occasional use (and selling!) but thats it really unless mine was faulty:confused:
    :j :j
  • The quality of print from my Epson C44 plus leaves a lot to be desired, to be honest. I've ordered two of these dell printers (1 to use, 1 for spare printer/cartridges). Thanks to the OP.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

  • A couple of updates for people, if you wish to install the printer on other/older windows operating systems there are instructions here, also the general consensus seems to be that the printer is a modified Z615 and will take said cartridges with either a modification to the cartridge or the printer itself ( easier in the long run but would in theory void the warranty ( for a ten quid printer that would get chucked otherwise i wouldn't be too bothered personally )), some of this has been discussed in the consumables section here as well as a discussion on required cartidges ( i would suggest reading it, but to cut a long story short Z615 cartridges 17 ( b&w ) and 27 ( colour ) are moderate capacity and 16 ( b&w ) and 26 ( colour ) are high capacity ), re-filling is obviously still cheapest in the long term, but with an intial purchase of the bigger cartridges you might not have to do it so often :)

FYI : inkjet printers tend to have the print head built into the cartridge, these have a limited print life and when quality is degraded a new cartridge must be bought so this can be replaced and quality restored

I purchased on of these last fall when they had the same deal. The printer is ok, not nearly the quality I was hoping for. Also, I have found it difficult to refill the trial sized cartridges, possibly the larger cartridges are best for this method. I have given up on the printer, and invested in something that will last longer, and hopefully not end up in a landfill too soon.

I can just see the landfill sites increasingly full of unwanted non-degradable products, in our attempts to avoid manufacturers escalating attempts at persuading us to buy extortionately priced consumables. If they could at least make them biodegradable!!
    A superficial bargain!!
