    Yes they were trial size.
I got my £10 printer last Sept. and this is the first time I`ve filled them.
OK,I obviously don`t print heavy day after day, although I do use it most days and I`ve also printed some photos.
The black is dead easy to refill, just drill a hole in the top.
The coloured needs snapping off at the top, refilled and taped back on.
    Full instructions with the kits.

When you refitted them did the screen asking if the carts had been used before come up & if so which option did you enter? i.e. what are all those chip& pin mettaly things on the back?
Anyway if you got 6 monthswoth from 'trials' it looks as tho' tighta**e here has 12.5 yearsworth of printing to look forward to!! ( It would be nice if I could get into my office though!!!!!)

When the screen came up I ticked trial cartridge and also new.
It then does a test print to check alignment.
Best to do one cartridge at a time.

Yes really. Last time it was available some kind MS gave me a link to down load drivers for a Lexmark as its basically the same printer. Tried it but it was a load of hassle and wouldn't work properly. Therefore I sold it.

Alternatively you could upgrade to WindowXP
Thanks for your message - I think we must have been typing at the same time!

We have just gone out and bought the new special offer computer base station from Aldi, 1024mb RAM & 320GB Hard Drive running Windows XP Home - so I will give this printer a go if it is still available. Cheers

If you`re talking about the USB cable it`s A to B.
6756100050 and 6756361411 both look OK

They usually sell the USB cables in shops such as Poundland and Hypervalue for the price of £1.00 so if you got one near you check them out :)

yeah, you get tiny trial-size cartridges (1 black & 1 colour) and the full sized ones are quite expensive to buy (as you will see by the extras when you go through the checkout process)

Obviously, they're selling these as a loss-leader so that they hope you will go on to buy their expensive cartridges from them

They look as though they're normal size to me but in any event I checked their site and the refills are expensive.

    An alternative is

    http://www.jettec.com

they do pattern replacements for a lot of printers and alternatively you could buy a refill kit which would do approx six fills and do the job yourself. If you do choose to re-ink yourself you need to follow the instructions for the Lexmark Z605 printer.
The cartridge references are Lexmark 10N016 / 10N0026

Check the dell website for info on if it has been dispatched...I had major problems with the courier firm Dell use....Dell had dispatched on the 24 March and the courier didin't deliver until 3 April...and that was only after I'd rang (15mins) to find out what was happening.
    Welcome, rogerramjet.
