Just going back to your shower screen, I use a green scrubby thing to remove the soap scum but white vinegar or 100% limescale remover for nasty little deposits, with an old toothbrush. My friend referenced using a steamer when she came round recently and so I spontaneously (!)
😳 got ours out and did the shower glass and tap (and shower boards) with that. Then I sprayed everything with a windscreen protection glass spray which means the water just runs off now. Bit of a result - it is one of my least favourite jobs!
Oh yes, shorts - have you tried Weird Fish? - got some offers on and I find their stuff is consistently good quality and lasts.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I hope the job thing works out the best way for you, madvix, thats a tough one, I don't envy you that call.SL - the windscreen protection spray is a brilliant call! I shan't confess on here about the length of time I leave my shower screen2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Feel free to confess away Karma - we’ve never done it! Limescale on it didn’t really bother me, but knew we had to do it when we moved. It’s coming along nicely - will take the windscreen wash tip though SL, that’s brilliant. Thanks too for the tip about weird fish - will have a look.Karma, with the work the client ended up paying before deadline agreed (not me, an intermediary who I do a lot of work for). Intermediary has suggested I use a colleague to help, so have taken mum on!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

That's a good idea - you know you can rely on your Mum! I bet she would do your house prep while you are doing the work too...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

She would do some, and has offered, but the project probably won’t arrive until middle of the week and I’m hoping we’ll have done most of it by then!I’m hoping it will be fine working with her... but at least I’m the boss so I get final say!! 😂 Her skill set is fine though and I often ring for her opinion on things I’m not sure about.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Evening all,
I’m currently sitting in the garden enjoying a roaring fire in the chiminea, having just finished a Magnum. We’re burning various bits of wood that have been hanging around and need to go. I did put them on Freegle, but no one has been interested. It’sa fairly enjoyable way to spend an evening in any case.
We viewed the house on Saturday. It was lovely but tiny inside. The outside space and location were as perfect as we’d thought. It currently has two offers on it pending sale of their properties. I’m still yet to be 100% convinced about the house itself, but want to book another viewing (and think we would put an offer in). I think it would be an adjustment but probably perfectly fine, we’re just spoiled for space here! We had a pub lunch after the viewing which was lovely and a real treat!
So today we’ve really been at it getting the house ready for valuations in the week. We’ve virtually remodelled the front garden and painted the garage door today (needs a second coat). DH has done some touching up with paint too. Still a lot to get done, but we’re getting there (and know it doesn’t have to be perfect for estate agents).
Another viewing booked for tomorrow and yet more jobs to do around some work!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all,
Just having a quick tea break as I've made a start on the big project. Am feeling much happier about it now I've enlisted Mum's help (and I've started - that always helps). It's as tricky as I expected, so will be very glad to share the load. It's funny though, being someone's 'boss' - I've never had a management role in my life!
I'm only working this morning though. This afternoon (after a lunch of takeaway curry leftovers - I forgot to mention that last night) I'm off to take some bits of furniture to in the in-laws to get them out of the house. We're importing a small double bed from my mum's and need rooms not to look too full (which they don't normally, but a double bed does add to the mix somewhat). I'm then meeting my Brownie friends for a walk (in the rain) and cuppa (maybe, if there's time), before heading to another viewing this afternoon. Especially after months and months of lockdown, I'm not used to all these appointments! (Tuesday - agents, hair cut, plasterer; Wednesday - 3 agents during the day and then a trip to get the bed from Mum's in the evening; Thursday - Tesla test drive (see below) and IKEA (joy!); Friday - FIL is pressure washing, I might book car MOT!). It's chaos!!
Hmm... Tesla test drive.... It was mooted (by myself), that we might want to add this to the mortgage. In reality, we've got £12k saved towards stamp duty and the potential to sell some shares to cover the cost (potentially also sell the hybrid, but it's less likely as I would probably keep it and sell my car), so likelihood is not much of it would add onto mortgage. If we bought the cottage, it's below our top budget, so car would be affordable. We'd then be set for a long time to come. Reliable cars for both of us would be an absolute necessity if we moved there - apart from a couple of pubs and a tea room, there's nothing within walking/easy cycling distance. So DH suggested that if we're considering it, we (I, he's seen enough) should actually go and look/test drive one, which is a sensible point.
Feeling a bit bad as we seem to be in a very fortunate position at the moment compared to so many (including friends here). We do recognise our good fortune though and are very grateful for it. (Also keeping up the food bank donations with our supermarket deliveries.)
MS things:
* Leftovers for lunch (and a sneaky price comparison - dinner was cheaper from Just Eat without a voucher than with voucher from Uber)
* freeglers collecting stuff so we don't have to waste our lives going to the dump (and wonderful FIL took some of the bits that really are dump material - the queue isn't as long at his dump!)
* Clicks
* YG survey
* Lots of work!
Gratitudes:
* DH's secure job and work shares
* Lovely evening by the fire, with curry, Magnum, wine
* I think it's stopped raining - maybe my walk won't be so wet!
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
