Morning all,
Thanks 😊 . Still not had confirmation from agents of our appointment - they’d not heard back from vendor when I chased yesterday. Will chase again this morning...
In the meantime it’s all systems go here - lots of bits to sort over the weekend and then hopefully some valuations next week -booking them is one of my jobs for today, along with cleaning the shower screen (Aggie tip is to stick kitchen paper soaked in vinegar to it), wash bathroom ceiling and ring building control (no Fensa certificates for our double glazing). And a tiny bit of work....
Going to see dad later - to borrow some tools and have a chat.
MS things:
* ventured into town yesterday to buy some shorts- still no good, so they’re going back (saving me £50!)
* YG survey - seem to be whizzing through the points lately
* use it up dinner last night, ready for veg delivery this morning
Gratitudes
* Saw aunt and cousin in the flesh yesterday, which was lovely!
* Porridge (can you tell I’ve just had my breakfast?!)
* Good quiz last night, although it was hard!
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ooh, I somehow managed to accidentally unsubscribe from your diary and missed all the excitement! New potential house sounds most excellent!! Fingers crossed you get to view at the weekend, and that things go smoothly with your own selling. Will you put yours on the market regardless, or will you wait til you've found 'the one'? We waited til we'd found one - but then the pesky sellers wouldn't take theirs off the market until we'd sold ours, which was fair enough... but sadly for them in the 10 days it took to get ours on the market and sold, we'd changed our minds and pulled out of theirs... All worked out though as we eventually found our current place.
SO exciting if you can get somewhere rural that you can still walk to the pub etc, how lovely! All fingers and toes crossed for you here...
And you're also reminding me that I MUST do something with our blackcurrants. Jam probably, yes, but we don't actually eat that much jam... so also I think some kind of brandy or something for Christmas. And we have gooseberries too - that might HAVE to go for gooseberry jam as Mr Cheery is such a big fan...6 -
Hope the house valuations went well, the appointment-making at any rate. You're busy now!
2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Morning all,
Thanks Cheery! We will at least dip our toe into putting house on market as, like you say, you’re not in a position to make an offer if you’ve not got an offer on yours. However if the house on Saturday isn’t right for us or we don’t get it, we’ll have to seriously think about whether we want to do it as we’d be likely to use an online, fee upfront agency, and then of course might not find the weirdly specific kind of thing we’re looking for.Thanks Karma, all booked in for Tuesday and Wednesday, gulp!
Quick and early update from me as we’re off to the in-laws to play with the rusty old car again today (with home jobs to do before and after). Booked four valuations for next week yesterday, confirmed viewing of house on Saturday and another on Monday, arranged plasterer to come and look at a bit of render that needs repair (Tuesday), picked up bits we need to tidy up/finish off from DIY shops (dropped whole tin of dark blue garage paint in B&Q 😳🙄😮), saw dad, got front grass cut and started tidying front garden. Mum has offered to help, so we may yet take her up on that.
While at in-laws today I intend to go through the MSE house buying and selling guides (I’ve looked, but need to be more thorough). Most of the time I’m just passing stuff to DH, so should have time to do some research too.In other news, having been asked a while ago for a quote for a project, the client has finally come back with the go ahead (great timing!), but wants a much tighter deadline than I proposed. I don’t know what to do as I actually don’t know if I could get it done in time (difficult project), aside from possibility of moving and all that entails. Client may go elsewhere if I stick to longer time frame though...
MS things:
* dinner used the turnips from last week’s veg box, caramelised, which made them tasty
* PA survey
* used a cc for screwfix order that had been credited with cashback, so saved £6 off that bill (was very impressed with Screwfix organisation, which considering I hate going there is saying something)
* Freegle things are being collected (tidying and therefore helping house sale efforts)Gratitudes
* lady who dealt with spill in B&Q was fine about it
* unexpected chat with friend (who called for eBay advice and has now sold £180 of stuff on there with my help 😊)
* catch up with dad

I'd just be honest with the client and explain that the situation is a little different to when you quoted for the project. You'd still love to do it and you'll push for their tighter deadline, but things going on in the background might mean it takes a day or two longer. If they've taken so long to get back to you, hopefully they'll be understanding that you haven't just had your entire life on hold waiting for them, things do move on in the meantime!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Sadly there’s a deadline they need to meet that’s immovable, so they will either accept that it can’t be done by then and go with me or find someone else (of which I’m sure there’ll be many, but the quality will be poorer).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
