I think the 3 year old will only see the train - and the adult helping them open it will be able to read your explanation 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Thanks SC. The adult will be entirely understanding, I know! Just seems a bit cheap!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Not cheap at all! They get a picture of a train on their card, and if you didn't send that, there'd be something they didn't care about on their card. Your way is betterThe figures are scary, aren't they
and so are the views of empty cities.

Postcards are such a rarity these days, it’s a lovely idea 🙂
We love Friday night dinner here too, first proper laugh I’ve had in a while, especially how excited mum was about them both having girlfriends 😂

Afternoon all,
Thanks ladies, I'll send the train postcard- it's different! NG - I can just imagine you were like the mum when your boys brought home their partners!
Having a quiet day here. DH is playing Football Manager because apparently it's available for a week free... I've been cataloguing family tree photos on my computer. Will head out for a walk later. We're having a curry night with friends this evening, on Skype, so looking forward to that.
MS wise... not a lot happening. I have two listings on ebay that I was going to end but both have more watchers than they ever have had, so I'm going to leave those two - everything else has been ended. I have stamps to cover the postage on those two and I might just take them to the parcel box near us (on a walk) rather than go for proof of posting.
Gratitudes:
* Takeaway curry tonightand friends!
* Family social tomorrow to look forward to
* Saw a robin in the front garden this morning
Stay safe all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

A curry night on skype! Excellent ideaJust to be a genealogical completist, can you tell me how you catalogue your photos? Mine is very rough and ready, I'm sure a proper genealogist would be appalled

Morning all,
Curry night was excellent, even though our food didn't arrive until 50 mins after we scheduled it. The delivery man (with mask and gloves and suitably distant) did apologise though, and we were just grateful it did arrive. Loads of food (what else is there to spend on?), so dinner tonight is sorted too.Dirtied many dishes and washed hands many times while dishing everything up into 'clean' containers before eating... as recommended. We had a lovely time chatting with our friends - they think they've had it and it certainly sounded like the symptoms.
Karma - until recently the photos etc. have been a complete mess (and in fact they still are). Multiple folders, duplicates, no consistency with whether they are linked to the right records in my FH programme etc. So I got fed up with that and started a spreadsheet. Each photo gets a number. Each line of the spreadsheet has the photo number, the file path (Genealogy/Photos/FamilyName), file name (which contains the number and names ordered last name, first name (with middle names or dob if duplicated), media type (so far I've only done photos, but will include census images etc. from Ancestry which will be labelled differently), and then two columns containing last name and first name of known individuals in the photo - so each photo has as many rows on the spreadsheet as there are labelled people in it. This is with the intention of being able to filter and find all photos containing a certain person. The final two columns are optional for location and date if known. It's probably overkill, but I wasn't really sure what I wanted, so decided to go for as much detail as possible until I can work out what I'll use it for/need. It's going to take me a long time to get everything catalogued... but I think I have some time on my hands. Have also signed up for a rolling Ancestry monthly membership - didn't want to commit to 6 months as if the lockdown is lifted, outside I will be! But in the meantime, there's plenty to keep me occupied.
We didn't go for a walk yesterday, so was planning to go for a long walk this morning, but it's freezing, blustery and we had a brief spate of snow. So not really feeling it at the moment. Same goes for weeding in the front garden. Have spoken to Dad. Need to ensure sister rings him daily - she hasn't been apparently and he's on his own (and of the Eeyore persuasion, so naturally everything is *awful* for him at the moment (I tried to encourage him to look at the positives - but it's hard work)). A call from Sis and Niece each day might help! We're having our extended family get together later via Xoom, so that should be nice. Have finalised our shopping delivery for Tuesday this morning - hopefully most stuff will be delivered including eggs!
Gratitudes:
* Lovely curry
* Great to catch up with friends
* No cooking needed tonight
* Excellent entertainment watching some homemade (by family friends) 'I want to break free' videos... very amusing!

Your photo spreadsheet just made me feel a bit weak at the knees, I do love a good spreadsheet!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!4 -
Haha Jess, it really shouldn’t have - I am very much not a spreadsheet person, so it’s very basic! Hopefully it’ll help me keep track, especially as at mum’s there are boxes of photos (not to mention the slides at my uncle’s) from nan’s which have yet to be gone through, sorted, scanned etc. I will probably have to add another column for where the original can be found!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
