Would just like to thank Martin for the link :)

  • I just applied (clicked straight on the link before I read everyones replies). I got the "we will get back to you message" but then I read on here that they charge 2% for transfering the balance. If they do that then I don't want to go ahead anyway - what's the point if they are going to get their money back anyway by craftily calling it a Balance Transfer Fee  . I read the Summary Box and it didn't say anything about a Balance Transfer Fee there  .

The 2% balance transfer fee is quoted on the t&c's of the paper applications of the same offer in part 10. The t&c's for the internet application don't have the bit about the 2% fee included so fingers crossed it won't be charged. However the reason people are referring to it is, due to it being originally thought that this offer was identical to the paper application one, in which case the fee would have applied.

Personally, I always print off (or save) the terms and conditions, offer page and summary box (or screen grab if required - Alt+Print Screen next to F12 then paste into a word document and save). They have to identify any fees by law as I understand it, therefore if none are stated they cannot charge at a later date (unless they notify you of a change in t&cs as MBNA have done recently - mentioned on another thread). Charges have to be stated clearly in the summary box and in the t&cs. This does not appear to state any charges.

As I am sure has been mentioned on here and elsewhere, it is sensible to read the t&cs before you sign up, as otherwise you will have a credit search on record and then, if there is a charge and you turn it down, you have hit your credit rating (even marginally) for nothing. Personally, I signed up on a 9mth offer in November as I had missed the 18 month offers - now understand that you cannot have more than one Capital One ;-(. Even worse, my wife applied last week (9 months again!) and she has not heard back - has anyone ever managed to get Capital One to switch applications to a different offer? I see from their site that you should not apply more than once to them as they consider the first application and igore any other.

    Good luck with your applications.

They have to tell you about any fees or charges in the Summary Box and they don't state this in the information given online. If they do charge it I will certainly argue with them :D .

As a non tax payer, if I stooze 10k into my 5.65% cahoot account, this will earn me in the region of £40-50 a month (less the interest earned on minimum payments). I don't mind paying a fee of £50 for this opportunity :D

(Although would obviously rather pay nothing if they've omitted it in the ts and cs for online applications!)

Just applied and was accepted, and agreement is in the post.

Applied to BT my Egg £10k to CapOne so hopefully this will go thru and I can re-SBT some more funds from Egg whilst in the introductory period :-) Just hope CapOne offer a suitably high credit limit.

Did a similar thing with Citi Bank anf got a ridiculous £3k limit.

btw, kept a copy of the online T's & C's and there is no mention of a BT charge. Wish I'd asked for more now :-(

    Cheers Martin.

Just hope Capital One don't become the Barclaycard of last year, when they had their 0% offer and then gave out low credit limits which wiped out the possible benefit for a lot of people.

I'm not a stoozer but have a balance on that 0% Barclaycard and will use this Capital One card to replace it as that offer ends in August.

Something does tell me that we might be waiting longer than 14 days, as I remember what happened last year when it took Barclaycard over a month in some cases.
  • I just applied and got the standard message so it is probably going to be a no. I think something has happened to my credit rating (which is annoying as I don't owe too much and have never defaulted on a payment to anyone) possibly due to the people who lived here before (6 yrs ago) never paying a thing to anyone and we've had lots of calls lately from people trying to get hold of them who have said they now won't call again. Anyone know if it could be the address that is the prob?
