Just had response from Capital one after getting the 10-14 day message on the web application. They have refused me for the 18 month card on the basis of my credit score (presumably they are looking at the amount of cards I have applied for, including the last capital one deal, in all other respects my credit score is perfect), but have accepted me for their 6 month interest free card?

How does that work? Surely if I am not good enough for the 18month card then I shouldn't be accepted for the 6month card?

I am deciding now whether to appeal. This is the first time I have been turned down for a credit card and I really did want the 18 month card to take over the small balance left on my Mint interest free card which runs out in July?

I really must ensure that my previous cards that I no longer use are now cancelled!!

Guess what cmorgan, I've just had my reply in the post today and they are offering me exactly the same as you, not the 18 month 0% deal but a 6 month 0% instead. I know for a fact our credit rating is excellent.

Me thinks something's going on here as I suspect many others may get the same reply. Seems to me it's like a sale offer advertising, for example, tvs at the great price of £29 but when you go in to buy one the assistant tells you "sorry, they've all gone but you can buy exactly the same tv at £129". Maybe Martin could be keeping an eye on how many applications get this offer instead of what was originally offered.......

Hi all, have just received today a letter saying my application for 18 months 0% balance transfers has just been accepted and all i need to do is sign and return the credit agreement.

However no mention of the credit limit - just says in the summary box under under amount of credit limit 'minimum credit limit of £1000; maximum credit limit £25000'

Phoned them up to ask them what my limit is, and thats not decided until i return the signed agreement

Now do i write my requests for the Balance transfer on the form now (i have £9000 in total to transfer), or shall i leave it until i receive the card and know how much my limit will be? I hope it will cover what i am hoping to transfer.

Was pleased to be accepted though :j , i was getting worried as quite a few people on here have not been accepted for the full 18 months

I also have received the agreement in the post, which I have signed and returned. Hopefully they'll be doling (doleing?) out decent credit limits...

I recieved an 18 month agreement and put over nearly 12,000 in Balance Transfer directly on the website. Before I signed the agreement I spoke to Cap One and they have said that all Balance Transfers entered on the site would be honoured. Therefore I would suggest if you want to make sure you get a decent credit limit then transfer a balance as reading other posts people seem to be disappointed with low limits possibly because it is unclear to the bank what the requirement is for the card.

Anyway looking forward to at least enjoying 12,000 0% loan for the next 18 months :)
  • Hi all!

Live in Leeds and having no joy at finding an 18m or 12m offer on Capital one. Rummaging today in WHSmith found a few 9m offers. Anyone know what mags in what shops might contain that elusive offer? Or have I missed the boat? Any generous soul out there could PM me the 18m link if its still valid?

    Much appreciated!

    Sterling.

    Dear Folks

Just to let you know I have received the CapitalOne Platinum card with £12,000 credit limit - I did a BT on application of £6,000 and just done another for £5000.

THANK YOU for posting this, now saved £100s and got rid of the nasty Barclaycard at last!!!

Me too.... excellent credit rating, no debt, only offered 6mths. But I have moved house twice in the past two years, so I reckon that might have something to do with it?

My other half has just been accepted and his credit limit set at £8200, much more than we needed (thankfully!). I have also applied by post, but if I get declined, can he do a BT on this from my current credit card?
