  • Daughter flew out to South Korea in May for 12months with Emirates and she said it was the best airline.
  • My parents travel to Thailand twice a year and use Emirates. Highly recommended as other posts have said.
    Have a fab hol.

We are all swans. Serene on top- but paddling like fury underneath.:smileyhea
  • Hmmm. Had a good trawl though the Emirates site - can't find any thing. Where can I get some info on this? Do we just ask at Dubai on arrival?

    Thanks,
    SM

on arrival, go upstairs and ask for the buffet restaurant, its next to costa coffee, there is a seperate entrance for emirates customers. (with slightly more downmarket food)

Are you sure that it is eight hours?
If so, it is usual for the airline to provide hotel accommodation for transit times of eight hours or more.

Does anyone know if this is correct? We have a 10 hr stop off (overnight) so would be interested if it is true

    Thanks
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
  • I'd be interested too - though probably the lounge access would be better. By the time we get to the hotel, settle etc it would be time to come back I suspect.

Alternative would be 2h for a meal, 1h walkabout, snooze(?) then think about setting off again.

Another alternative suggested would be to take a taxi trip round Dubai.

    Anyone done this?

Nearly five months and you haven't contacted them to confirm?

Hotel is always better. A good snooze and a shower works wonders.

    hi all,

i don't know the info is of much help.

Emirates unlike most of the other International airlines have different tarriff selection. in economy itself, they have got M class, B class, J class etc. etc.
these classes do not make ANY difference when you actually fly, but there is a different fare for each of these class. by the way you will never know which of these classes you are booking until you ask one of their customer services centre. say they have got around 200 Economy seats, they give away the first 50 for the cheapest fare, the next 100 for a slightly increased fare and the rest for a slightly increased fare and so on.
Now coming to the point of Accomodation, if you are in one of the Highest Economy classes, you are ENTITLED for a hotel stay if you have a transit time of more than 8 hours in Dubai. but they usually dont say that to you unless you ask them, so as Martin says, ALWAYS ASK.
there are a few Lounges in the Dubai airport and if you are a frequent flyer with ANY of the internationa flight companies, you can gain access to one of their lounges. You need to ask this at the time of CHECK -IN.

    hope this helps some
  • It does, thanks, I'll ask at check-in.

Donnie - I emailed Emirates at the time but got a standard, useless, autoresponse.

We're going next friday so its all coming to the top of the list again.

Just spoken to Emirates - we're on a very low economy class ticket - so we don't get the hotel package. We did get very cheap flights!

The operator at Emirates said to use the Marhaba Lounge for about £11pp - I asked about any complimentary deals for long transit passengers but she said there are none? She didn't know anything about any other lounges.
