That doesn't sound good :(They can say no call out fee but did they say free quote or estimate? If it just says no call out charge, then they can legitimately charge you for assessing the lappy as this would not be considered call out. More and more firms are doing this because people get the firm to diagnose the issue for free but then get it done elsewhere cheaper so the firm have lost on time and money. It sounds like they are now charging for call out because they want to get some money. Legally they are allowed to do this and trading standards can't do diddly squat

Yes they did:( (yellow pages : no fix, no fee, no call out charge) (the job sheet OH signed column 1 without reading  - Desc., taken away for further testing, quote to follow. 3 columns to complete :

column 1 - customer authorisation, I agree with the T&C (what T&C there isn't any) and give my authorisation to proceed with the repair work.

    Sign : Print; date.

column 2 - cancellation rights waiver, I wish to waive my cancellation rights ?? sign;print;date. ( I do not understand this column)

column 3 ; payment completion (Engineer & office use only) the customer has paid in full - sign.... Payment type*....

Well it does not matter now - I have called them yesterday & told them that I will pay the £35 (not £45) & I want to collect my lappy - still they won't let me collect it.

They wanted my debit card to pay them yesterday - me said nope me got no "debit card" or credit card :D me only pay CASH!

err.... hold on a minute .... 5 mins later err Madam, yes we will collect the cash from you on Monday after 4PM:eek::eek::eek:

me said : why can't I go & collect it now & pay. Errr.... our system won't let you do so - what a load of CRAP!!!!

OH went to Trading Standard - they checked their details - this company is registered in Leeds:mad::mad: but operated locally:mad::mad: I think they just sub-contracted to the "local" so call Engineers & they get % of the cost for the service they allocated to the sub contractors.

Determination and persistence do pay off! Two issues resolves yesterday:

My car DVD player stopped working. Had had it two years but only used it on about 5 journeys. Rang Bush only to be told they don't have a repair service!! Man suggested I would just have to throw it away! However he did say that the laser shouldn't have failed in that time. Phoned Argos - they said if I could get an independent repair person to verify that it was a manufacturing fault I could get a refund. Phoned several places, no one will touch Bush. Eventually found out Bush are owned by Argos. Back to Argos - told same thing. Rang again - same thing. Rang again - was told I could have a pro-rata refund based on expected life of 6 years. RESULT = £71 back.:j Really hate this idea that things can't be repaired. Will check aftersales next time I buy anything.

Second victory was getting a voucher for a KFC meal as my sweetcorn was inedible. Again it took 5 phonecalls and not accepting two very snotty letters from customer services.

Have a great day peeps! :)

She wanted any MOC's that we won't use for above products. I have printed out the ones on SSM, hadn't thought to look to see if they are on BIS as well. I certainly won't be using Pampers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:well not until I have grandchildren!
