Hi RACHIE77
Try putting the age in the title - i always do an age search when looking eg 6-12 months it saves buyers opening every item to see what size they are.

soolin wrote:The listings look lovely but I'm worried that you are going to lose money rather than make it. Your 17 items already listed have cost you £5.10 in listing fees (17 x 15p x 15p) and if any sell at your opening price of 99p you will also have to pay FVFs of approx 5p each (someone correct me on that if I'm wrong please, I can never work out FVF accurately from memory) plus approx 28p per listing paypal fees. I realise you have liisted on the 5p day so you will eventually get £1.70 back (17x10p) which will help.
So each 99p item will have cost you 63p in fees (less the 10p refund). If you sell all your items you will just make a profit but if you only sell half you will only be breaking even overall.
Hopefully stuff will sell for more than opening price but stuff listed on an offer day often does poorly as there is so much competition.
I hope things goes well for you.

Oh no - I can see this going horribly wrong!! I guess there is nothing that I can do about it now that they are listed except maybe hope they come in at slightly higher than 99p but like you say its not a good patch to be sat in... the only thing i'm hoping is that most people went for 5 or 7 days as I went for 10days so it would end on a weekend rather than midweek......
I forgot about the fees being so high! Why are they so steep for items that are so low priced??
Not fair

Hi Rachie,
Sorry I didn't want to worry you, I'll go and stand in the corner for a while ...It's just that I tend to be pessimistic sometimes about final values on ebay especially as others on this board have been mentioning a downturn in sales overall. My position was worst case scenario, you only need to sell some at more than 99p to see some profit, so all is not lost. You are also due back the credit from ebay as it was an offer day but not until 10th June or thereabouts which is a bit mean !
On a positive note your auctions look great, bright and positive and the clothes themselves look so cute.

some people will search on age, i usually do so wouldn't normally have found your auctions, but i suppose lots of people will shop by category too so you'll still get interest. depending on how much postage discount you offer for multiple buys i'd imagine you'd also make a profit on the postage. i don't think you can change titles on things that have bids, apologies if i've mucked things up for you by bidding on anything

All the auctions of ended and I think the conclusion is ---- I don't think I'll bother again...!!!
I've got a lot more stuff here but its just the time and effort that it takes to list them, (as well as the fees if it doesn't sell) for very little return... some good items didnt sell (incl a bob the builder top, tigger hoody, winnie the pooh t-shirt, tigger shirt, adidas tracksuit bottoms) so I'm not sure that I want to spend my time sorting out, washing, ironing and photographing the other hundreds of bits, it would take me all week and if i'm lucky i mite make a tenner! I think I may have broke even this time as 6 items didnt sell and 11 did - at a rough guess thats about £3 profit after fees - if that, i maybe even lost out??
Anyways, think I'll go up the carboot sale and charge 50p an item - if I sell 8 things then I can pay my 50p entry fee back and still be up by 50p - ! :T !
Did you get your bits Jellyhead? Hope I packed them ok, guess you know I was new to this clothes selling malarky! lol!Official DFW Nerd 210

hi jellyhead, I think the postage came to £2.04p but thats my own fault cos i popped something else in there! - some others have left feedback to say their items have arrived so let me know if yours doesn't, I have certificate of posting of course (thanks to this forum!)

depends really, ive sold loads of clothes and the majority always seems to sell. I found that everyone seems to buy 'next' clothing and as most of my kids clothes are from them they sell straight away, even babygro's! Anything else thst isnt next i put as a bundle and sell it that way and that normally sells also. I start everyting off at 99p plus no more than £1.50 p&p0
