Wow, i was getting a bit unsure as to what was happening to game, so i spent all my points friday, on xbox live points, as that was an instant redeem. Not sure if was a hard copy item i would ever have got it. Use the points instore asap if you can
Good luck to all the staff losing their jobs.

You cannot use your game points or elite card points though you can earn them if there are any stores still open

  • Dear gamestation customers,

Here’s some important news about us. GAME Group plc (the parent company of gamestation in the UK) is now in administration. We want you to know that the Administrators aim at this time is to continue trading while they seek to find a new owner for the business.

In the meantime, we’ve had to make some changes. We’ve summarised them below. Some of them are temporary, some are permanent.

1.Online Sales: We expect some disruption to our online services over the next few days while we make some changes. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
2.Refunds and Exchanges: Until further notice, we will not be able to offer refunds or exchanges for products purchased either before the administration or for products purchased from the date of the administration.
3.Pre-Orders: No new pre-orders can be taken until further notice. No refunds can be given for any pre-order deposits which have been paid. We are reviewing this over the next week.
4.gamestation Elite card: We have had to suspended use of gamestation Elite cards. This means that points can be earned but NOT redeemed until further notice.
5.Gift cards: We have also had to suspend gamestation gift cards. The value on these cards cannot be redeemed. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
6.Pre-owned Software: You can still buy pre owned products at great prices in your local store or online. If you trade in a pre-owned software item then you will still be able to accrue reward points and use your trade in to exchange for another item. You will not be able to trade in pre-owned software for cash. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
7.Pre-owned Hardware: We have had to suspend trade in for pre-owned hardware at this time. If this changes, we will let you know. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.
8.Click and Collect titles: We have had to suspend this service. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

    So here is my question:

Went to a Store in CHester to use my 5 pounds. During the transaction the Cash Register broke down and they could not book my points. Points are now on my Reward Card (yes, not on my acc til today!), but I guess i lost the fiver now.... havent I?

I was in Game, Maidstone today, and they were waiting for the phone call to say whether they were to continue trading or not. They had signs up saying they cannot process Gift Cards or Reward Cards at present. By the time we walked round to Gamestation, Gamestation had already received their call and the shutters were down. I have been informed that Game, Maidstone, will be remaining open

Soon, the only place you be able to buy Games and xonsoles will be supermarkets - Not Good

Soon you will have buy everything at supermarkets and then a bit further down the line it will only be Tesco.

Then of course they will charge whatever they want

They should never have been allowed to get so big

You cant really blame tesco for this! Its more the fact that online sales are so cheap - play.com, amazon, even hmv online tend to be cheaper than game. I would rather wait 3 days for my game to arrive then spend £10 - £20 more on it from the gamestation in my town centre.

They charge more for their preowned then play etc for the new version. The only thing I buy from game etc is the console and thats only if they cheaper than an online deal from a major online retailer.

I guess its more the problem that Game.co.uk didnt manage to adapt.

I understand they need to pay wages, rent etc, but in reality people are buying games online elsewhere and game.co.uk did not adapt to price changes at all.

Why would I pay 40 quid on game.co.uk, when I can get the same game for 35, 30 or whatever somewhere else. And if i get a game a day later or 2 then so what...

The Reward Card wasnt bad, but did not make up either.

Sorry, but they should have focused on their online shop and downgraded shops... as much as i liked game shops.

Simply every shop wants a slice of the cake from the gaming industry, which overall doesnt do bad at all. At least I would, if I would do business and if it is up to the point of bringing down a big retailer, than so be it.

    Its business... no charity.
