Thanks for the above drahcir. It says phone restriction off and works with one O2 sim card, but when I put the one I want to use in the phone it says "Sim card registration failed" The sim card works in another phone. Any one have any clue what I can do about this.

no, it's O2

sim card registration usually means the phone has been blocked/barred in the uk (wont call in/out in the uk, but will in other countries).

you may be lucky, because the sim may have expired and thats whats causing it to show this message

Thanks for your help. I had been really stupid and put the wrong sim card in the phone. All is working now.:T

you can debrand your phone at most phone unlocking shops for around £15 not sure if there is any free software for that model.
