mrbadexample - you don't need to clean yours as you are now a slow cooker expert :D

Does anyone have a good alternative to the horrid toxic fume cleaners? Or would that be the once-a-year-nice-man? lol.
  • Everyday my hob gets a quick wipe around and the oven door about once a week with some water and soda crystals, the inside gets cleaned when there is usually a burning smell where ive dropped something in the bottom so i have to clean it!

Hob gets cleaned daily but the inside... errrr.....

I mostly use the convection oven in my combi microwave and that has a stay-clean coating thingy which really does just wipe clean, so that gets done quite regularly.

But my grotty falling apart oven? the outside gets done weekly, but the inside? Errrrrr, not even when Moggins tells me I should be doing it (sorry Moggins Hun)

That said, I did give it a go with the stardrops when I was on my kitchen cleaning mission last night, not that you'd notice icon9.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

:cool2: I did mine last weekend and it took AGES

I will never again cook a goose breast uncovered!!!! The fat went everywhere and then some

I used oven pride for the first time and was amazed at how efficient it was on the racks. The gunk just melted off and the bag was very secure. It did a pretty good job in the oven too but I suppose I could have given the oven another coating to remove the very burnt on little blobs that you get

I scrapped one cheap expanding tray and spent a long time on the tray that came with the oven. Anyway I have since baked one covered casserole and one lot of scones and I am never again doing any meat uncovered

I hate doing the oven and to date give it a good clean every 6 months and a good wipe every week or so

I use Oven pride as well about £4 at Tesco, you get a sealed bag put in all your loose oven bits, add the oven pride liquid leave overnight and hey presto all, yes all the baked on bits come off. Marvellous.
  • phew, I'm feeling much better! I expected the thread to be full of comments of insides being cleaned weekly etc. I share an office with someone who clean the inside every Sunday, even if it hasn't been used!

I think I did mine about 6 months ago although I'm now motivated to at least toddle off in a minute and do the inside of the door so I can see through the glass!!!

Might look up this ovenu company though........
  • We do the hob when we use the hob but the inside not that often as we don't use the oven that often so it's not that dirty. We have a steam cleaner which I find brilliant when we do clean the inside.

This is so weird, I hadn't cleaned my oven for months and tried to tackle it last week as it was half term. I used Mr Muscle twice on two days running (Mr Floppy more like) and got some of the gunk off but there is still loads of black on the floor of the oven. The sides clean themselves but the "roof" is full of black crispy bits. So now I have a box of Oven Pride and a black liner from Lakeland and I will try again tomorrow. I also need to unscrew the door glass really, the inside pane I did Ok with a scourer but there seems to be burnt on stuff inside the double galzing bit which I can't get to. The hob's not too bad as I do wipe that down after use.

Its a job that I hate so much I never clean it all in one go... I tend to do a shelf or side peice here and there during the week then when that is done I do the glass doors another day and then tackle the inside in one go...it doesn't seem so bad when all the other bits are already clean...

I guess it gets done once every month or so...
