  • funny this should come up as I have decided to do mine tomorrow. I have to say I am just like the rest of you, do the top every time I use it but the inside, not often enough. I was given some stuff to get burnt grease off the burners this week. So will be giving it a go.

More often now as I use less chemicals, when I used that strong stuff it was every few months, now I find I do it little and often, weekly usually. Soak all the trays/racks etc in the bath. Hobs done daily.
One day I might be more organised...........

The hob gets wiped over every time I use it, the inside of the oven...erm....about once a year:o I cleaned it before Xmas because my Mum was comming & I knew she'd want to help with the Christmas lunch, I think prior to that it was last cleaned by my mum when I was pregnant (so at least 15 months perviously!:eek:) as "pregnant women shouldn't come into contact with oven cleaner becuase of the toxic fumes"..I invented that as I didn't want to be bothered clean it myself but it was smoking....well, I was in the process of producing her 1st & only grandchild:o:eek:

I clean my hob every couple of days, but the oven is done by ovenu man once a year - he does a brilliant job, dismantling the whole oven (even removes and cleans all the screws), and when he is finished the oven really looks brand spanking new.

  • TKP - I clean the top of cooker every few days with a wipe and a real deep clean when it gets a bit too much (especially as DH now retired and cooking every day). Oven is a bit of a bugbear. Have thought of doing a professional oven clean now and again. I take it, it is worth it? I don't mind paying if it is done really well. I must say we don't use oven often as I tend to slow cook but it still gunges up with things that do go in, especially if spillage if not careful.

Would welcome your comments. How much do you pay for a degrunge so I have a ballpark figure?

    You have to clean them?

    :D
  • Sorry, just read earlier post and have seen it costs circa £40 for a deep clean oven. I think probably worth it once a year! Would welcome comments though!
