  • I too have lost my sparkle. Not that long ago I was quite glam, lovely clothes, always tanned (v bad I know!), nails polished, slimmed down with Slimming World to ten stone etc etc...

Then got together with my lovely boyfriend and have now put back on all theweight (stop laughing!!), live in trackie bottoms and trainers and the nail polish has gone all hard and crusty in the cupboard.

Did massive renovations at my house over a few months which really took it out of me, but apart from that I've just gone really complacent, uncaring about my appearance and have been eating what my boyfriend eats (utter rubbish)! I'm now a right slob. For some strange reason he seems to love me more than ever!

Also for some reason my willpower seems to have vanished so it seems genuinely much harder to get myself back to how I want to be.

So it's def time to sparkle and find that person I was not that long ago. And then promise never to let myself slide back into it.

I have a room full of really lovely clothes that I can't get a leg into now so time to reverse the situation!

    So here goes....

Hi all. I've also been away for some time and haven't been very sparkly lately due to absolutely silly hours at work - I'm under contract for 37hrs per wk and recently done 95. Not good for mind or body! (and no, I don't get paid overtime so not healthy for the bank balance either)

I'm desperately trying to get fitter but genuinely have very limited time, but I've managed a walk today and done 28 lengths backstroke tonight. I think that I might have quick Avon spray tan on my legs before bed and try and get some proper sleep. Oh, I have filed my nails, so at least they also look at bit tidier. Little steps eh? :)

On X stone 1/2 lb now :D So just need 1 more to get down to into the next stone. Will feel like a big milestone, even though it's still too much for me to even take away the X and put the number, to a forum of people who I don't know, and who don't know me!!
I am aware of how silly that is :o

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: Popped in here to check what date it was that I posted this, as I remember being so pleased that I was so close. But the last few days I've just been piling on the pounds, literally. 11, yes ELEVEN POUNDS, in TEN DAYS
How is that even possible :( It's not even like I've been eating a load of S**t or anything, I just don't understand.
Literally had tears when I got on the scales the last couple of mornings. :(:(

    Hey Monkeynut,

Please don't take it to heart. In fact, I bet those scales are broken! You've worked so hard towards this, I am sure you can & will reach your health goals. Take care sweetie,

    :) Thank you.
I did think that the scales may have been broken, but my little boy jumped on after me and he was the same as usual! So that was that ray of hope gone :)

I did actually get really excited just after I wrote that last post - thinking Ahhhh :D I bet I just got so obsessed with looking at the lbs, I bet actually I've LOST like 3lb, and yes the lbs had gone up, but the stone must have gone down by 1.

:o But no, that wasn't the case, I had just put loads on :rotfl::rotfl: felt a right pillock at that point as I had just so excitedly jumped on the scales

Thought that as it had mysteriously gone on so quick that it might go as quick too, but not so much! On the way down though so at least that's something. And I've had a very slack week as lots going on so at least this week I know why I haven't lost more than I have. I'm ok with it when I know why, it just bothers me and is pretty demotivating when out of nowhere, BAM!!

Had a nice few days in the sunshine, so a bit of a glow going on now, and that always makes me feel a bit more glam. Putting some of the gradual tan moisturiser on my legs though as they are still pretty pasty, so while I don't want to look fake or orange, they do look very pale now my top half, and my feet are a bit tanned, so I want to blend them in :)

So far I have lost 16lbs and feel so good as my clothes fit nicer now. Sill got a wobbly tum though :(

Well still no lbs dropping off, but must stop falling into the problem of 'well I'm not losing weight so I might as well not bother with anything else' - not a very sparkly mindset is it!!
Kids seemed to have decided this morning was a good time for a lay in - and I'm sure not going to complain about that on a Monday morning :D So I've had a fabulous relaxing soak in the bath - lots of gorgeous body scrub I found in my stash, de-fuzzed, hair washed, conditioned, and a conditioning treatment I bought Yellow stickered in Tesco because some of it had leaked, so got about 2 thirds of the bottle for 25p rather than a whole bottle for about £9 :D And some lovely cocoa body butter smothered all over when I got out of the bath too.
So yes, still fat and wobbly, but feeling lovely and smooth and soft all the same :)

Not silly at all, hun ;)

On the plus side, I've been quite good exercise-wise. I try to walk one lap of my local park (about 3 miles - it's big!) every day/other day while the weather remains sunny...and have managed most days since July. Just hoping the Olympic fever sustains me :D

Haven't done too much on the sparkling front though, other than paint my toe-nails shiny pink last week. Then things got busy, & I forgot to add a second layer, so the first layer is starting to disappear already! What am I like!?! :rotfl:

I love the sound of that! :D

One thing I've found that seems to help re-balance my diet is fresh oranges. I'm eating one a day (as a second breakfast/snack), in addition to normal meals & plenty of fresh fruit. Although it's only been about 2 weeks in, my skin feels good, and I don't seem to be adding on any extra weight. Moreover, my hay fever attacks have also calmed down, thank goodness!

Fingers crossed I can keep it up.
