Maralum, do you have Freecycle where you live? If so, put a wanted ad on for a coat and you will probably be bowled over with offers!

    Very good point, thankyou!

Going to buy a caravan and take the kids on holiday during the....gasp....school holidays! Instead of a Sun (newspaper) Holiday in October in freezing Wales lol. :)

Ooo - I know what you mean about the Sun holiday!! My lovely mum has bought the Express all week for me so I can look for a similar holiday for us!

We've cut out all mags and papers - except one on saturday, so this is a treat for me!!

  • What a fab positive post - thank you:T

The thing i woudl really like to do is go on a weekend break to Rome! Every month when such a large percentage of my wages go on debts, i think "I could have gone to Paris/Rome/Prague....with this", so i want to do it!

Also would love to start a saving account and see numbers go up the right way....

And have an oven with a door on it that doen't list at a jaunty angle

And eventually maybe be able to work part-time and have more time to spend doing art stuff

    Thanks again Maralum and co

I've generally been OK with money but for the last ten years or so I've been in debt. It's always been manageable, and it's never been a huge debt, but was about 6k at one stage. For the last few years I've been very careful, because my income is quite low.

However, quite recently I came out of the red and went into the black. It has made an absolutely huge difference to me. I know there's not really that much difference between being a grand in the black and a grand in the red, but I really do feel so much better. It's just a psychological thing I guess.

So I've booked a holiday for me and the kids to Barbados. :D (Before you ask, it was surprisingly cheap, I went via quidco, used discount codes, put it on a zero percent card and have savings available to pay the card off. The money saving continues!)
  • Love this thread!

The 1st month I won't have to service my debts, I'll have at least £730 to do with as I like - I'll most probably splash out on a shopping spree or holiday. I'll go back to my frugal ways the following month and start saving it.

When I'm debt free I'm going to save up and take the children on an all-inclusive holiday to the Carribean/Indian Ocean area. I'm going to eat everything I can and remember all the years I've made do with whats in the freezer and cupboard!
