Just to put the opposite side of Accord on this thread. We are far from a straightforward case as I am on a fixed term contract at a University with over 12 months to run, and my partner is on maternity leave.
Even though they did come back and forward to ask questions and further information from us, I did not think that what they asked for, in hindsight was uncalled for or unnecessary.
All in all from application to offer in writing was 4 weeks.

start of August application put in by broker, after information supplied by us,
6/8 fees taken by Accord for survey and application
15/8 survey took place
30/8 word from our mortgge broker than mortgage approved
3/9 in writing approval from Accord mortgages.

All done, application and approved within the month of August, and on their website they do state an average of 20 working days which was about right for us.
