    Just spoken to my broker.

They have offered to lend us 30K less than we need as they didn't take my student loan into consideration to start with, even though they have had the payslips showing it for almost 2 months.

Looks like we may lose the reservation fee and solicitors fees as a result and be staying put for quite some time as our credit will be shot due to multiple footprints due to failed house purchases falling through. :(

MF2015, we were in a similar situation. Accord offered us less than we wanted due to my other half's student loan. Fortunately, we were in a position to pay off the loan, and that was enough for Accord to lend the full amount.

It took a while - we had to send confirmation of the loan settlement from the Student Loan Company - but doing something similar might be an option for you?

dont decide this for yourself. Every lender has their own criteria on what effect each foot print has.

The lender may turn you down, but at least give them the chance to decide.

Dont let Accord put you off!

Unfortunately it's not an option to pay off the student loan as we won't have enough deposit so we're stuck.

Thanks for letting me know that, there may be some hope then but not sure I can take any more to be honest. Too many false hopes and can't see the developer been over the moon when we were supposed to complete a month ago.
  • MF2015: really sorry to hear that especially after such a long time of waiting and Accord dragging their heels. I totally agree with 'Betmunch' though - don't be put off just because this lender hasn't agreed to give you the whole amount. I know it's incredibly stressful though so easier said than done. I was half expecting to be declined so was already lining up a 'whole of market broker' (as advised on these forums) to look at our case individually. We were looking at getting the best rate in the first instance (i.e. going with Accord) but the next application was with who would take us given our particular circumstances. Wishing you all the best

Thanks for the post, our broker is going to try Nationwide. We are well within lending criteria with them, even with the student loan so hope that this goes through, though I'll be taking a back seat and if it does then all well and good.
  • Hi all, I did a Google search and found this thread.

I applied for my remortgage with Accord through a broker on the 6th of Feb, and since then they've been back with a host of questions, (which get answered within only a few hours) requests for 3 years accounts, 12 months bank statements, personal and business, Tax certificates and I'm beginning to get cheesed off. I've been running a successful limited company for the last 24 years, have no debts (other than the house) and have savings, so what is this delay all about??

If it's not a strait forward mortgage they are an absolute nightmare to deal with, I'll never consider them again.

I have to say we have had to opposite experience with Accord Mortgages. We just got our Formal Mortgage offer through in less then 3 weeks.
Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!
