ARGH so annoyed with the mother!

That is a valid concern. You should raise that with her, in a way which wont sound offensive. You could perhaps ask for the hotel to bill her directly so it is something she needs to pay, not you. Make it very clear it is your Mum paying?May GC - £100 per week

alisojo, the sweetie buffet is an 'instead' of. my mum said we HAVE to have a buffet, and the sweetie buffet would be cheaper.
i don't know megan, i don't want her to feel pressured as she's prone to getting depressed and if she's struggling to pay for it, then it could make her worse. her reaction to finding out my veil is over £100 and saying that she would have to pay it over 2 months is why i worry. the weddings only 3 months away tomorrow, and if she needs to pay for the veil over 2 months, then £400 for a buffet, i just don't know where shes going to get the money from.0 -
can you not tell her a white lie that it has to be payed at time of booking it it? if she hasnt get money then she cant go ahead with it..didnt realise it was only a few months till weddingHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Well you have a good reason then. Just talk to her. I would still consider some kind of food in the evening - it isn't your problem if your guests can't control themselves, but equally you don't want them falling around. Personally I find alcohol so sugary that I don't want sweets, but they are pretty and good for people to take home. Is there an option where the guests can order something to nibble should they wish?
I hope you find a solution.May GC - £100 per week

Are all your guests young? I'm thinking you might be better thinking about suitability rather then *just* cost.

She know's it doesn't have to be as she's been with me when I've been to the meetings, and she is going up on her own on Wednesday as I'm at work, to speak to the lady sorting it out. Yeah only 3 months tomorrow0 -

Thank you. I will do. They probably will be falling around anyway, just throwing up chunks of nuts too.
That's what I said to my mum, that there will be stuff people can order at the bar if they wanted, but she didn't want that.
I'm going to give it a few days to die down, if mum rings me, I'll talk to her, but I'll wait a few days to call her.0 -
74jax that made me laugh, the idea everyone has a stash of nuts for emergency! Tbh i mis read the original post. Thought her mum wanted sandwiches etc but shes having nuts + sweets. On a normal night your not normally fed but you do usually reach a club later than 8pm. I dont think you should be forced onto things as it'll annoy you on the day. I usually have something small before, if it was just sweets id prob buy crisps/nuts at the bar or nip away earlier for something to eat.0

As a low carber, I ALWAYS have nuts with me, and usually a lump of cheese tooScience adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
