...has anyone actually received one of these DVD-Players?! May guess would be that it is some sort of marketing ploy, with only a few 'select' people receiving them, so that they can post a 'winners' list.
Not keeping my hopes up...0 -

You're spot on it is a marketing ploy - 50 cheap dvd players for thousands of new members. However I doubt very much its a conspiracy!0 -
Sainsburys is part of lovefilm and when I joined them they were also offering a free dvd player for the first 50 people to reply.
About 2 weeks after I cancelled my free trial the free DVD player turned up!!
Steevstay lucky!

this is driving me mental.
i have suposedly signed up for this but received no confirmation or anything and everything, have tried emailing them 3 times but with no reply, also no confirmation email like you're supposed to get of your question being received!
its driving me crackers!!!
is anyone else having this problem, my sister is also having same prob on diff computer0 -
Has anyone heard of any of the online rental companies "throttling" the services - apparently in the US this is common practice on the netflix service.
Basically, and it's in their t&cs, the more rentals you get, the slower the turn around becomes.
I read about it on the NY Times site (requires registration free), which is here, but there is also this site that talks about called Hacking Netflix .
I'm using LoveFilm, and sometimes have my suspicions, but does any know if this actually happens? Which service is best for turn around times?0 -
if I cancel with lovefilm will I get the 3 months for one offer?0

i know what you mean funnily enough: the first rentals you get, eg on a free trial, turn up in a flash, then it gets slower and slower...this has has happened with both blockbuster and lovefilm, or are we just being paranoid...
i tried a realy rubbish one called postadvd, it was pants. 3 week trial, first 3 dvds turned up dead speedy, returned by me within 3 days. for the whole 3 weeks i never received another dvd, and reply to persistent emails only when i actually cancelled0 -
I took this offer out having been a previous lovefilm customer and must admit the films have been slow in coming this week. However this may be due to the bank holiday. I rejoined on the 23rd of March and have had 10 films with a further 2 on the way. I always keep a list of at least 10 in my queue and turn most films round the same day I get them. The free 2 month trial with paying for a month works out at £5 a month over the 3 months so I cant complain and think this is good value. If I hire a film locally its £2.50 each so I only need to get more than 2 in any month to be getting films cheaper than hiring from my local store.0

I received the email at 14:57 22/03/2005, and I had replied and received my confirmation by 15:09 22/03/2005.
I have yet to receive a DVD player or anything to say otherwise, and there is no way in hell 50 people could have joined up within 12 minutes.0
