Using the 'scratched discs' line is a great way of extending your trial. I know of several people that have complained about this and all have been offered an extended trial with no questions asked. These companies are desperate for your business so having a little moan at them is bound to work in your favour!0

Does anyone know whether they take money from your account actually on the date of billing or before? I'm currently on a month's free trial and my next billing date is 2nd April but I want to cancel before they take any money out.
I've actually been quite pleased with Lovefilm and had 12 decent dvd's so far ... the latest 3 were posted back today so should have 3 more by Friday, just in time to watch and return before I cancel"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Lovefilm, takes the money exactly on the billing date. They should have received all the DVDs before the billing date, so that cancellation is effective. So better give 1-2 days extra for any postal delays which is quite common during Bank Holidays.0 -

I'm paying £14.99 a month at present - following the link from the email, the price is quoted as £13.95 for the same package!0 -
I know some people are happy with them, but I am a bit wary of LoveFilm - I returned all the dvds during the free trial and cancelled as quite a few of the dvds were too scratched to play properly. They claimed that they had not received one of the dvds (and therefore couldn't cancel my membership) and so charged me £14.99 and another £14.99 again in January which they refused to refund. Worried that they would keep charging me I replaced the 'missing' dvd (which I had already returned!!) at my own expense - so for 2 months I had no dvds from them at a cost of £30 plus the £9 for the dvd I paid for and sent to them! They don't respond to emails or respond with a cut and paste job that doesn't answer your questions. After I contacted Which? (Consumers Association) Love Film cancelled my account and said no more money would be taken from my card - But they still didn't refund the £14.99 x 2 - so my 'free trial' cost me £39 [2 months charges + the cost of a dvd].

If I don't get a free dvd player then I will be very upset as I don't think more than 50 people will have signed up within 15 minutes of them advertising
I was billed immediately but I now notice that my next billing date should be June (taking into account the 2 'free' months), however I have noticed my next billing date is now showing as APRIL!
I suddenly remembered the reason I left them because I had billing issues....and it looks like I may well have them all over again! :mad:0 -
Hi I also took Lovefilm up on their offer, as I have used them in the past with no problems. I also find my next billing date is next month so Ive emailed them to find out if its a oversight on there part. Waiting not so patiently for a reply
UPDATE : Just checked my terms and conditions again this problem has been rectified next billing date late June happy again0 -

Yeah mine shows a June billing date now which is fine by me
I found Lovefilm pretty good when I used them last year, though I did have one or two DVD's go missing and quite a few were only playable with skipping...0 -

Basically I'm still chasing them up and have sent over 20 e-mails either to get a refund or for them to resolve my issue (they charged me £14.99 for one day which was a Sunday and prior to which they'd e-mailed me saying my trial did not run out till the Sunday)
All be careful of this company, their customer service is very bad0 -
Just cancelled my subscription today. Billing date is the 30th. I almost forgot about postal problems over the Easter weekend. Hopefully I’ll get my last film today, and be able to send it back in time before they decide to bill me.
And then, I think I shall try this 3 for 1 offer.
As it goes, I didn’t have any problem with LoveFilm.
But then I still have one film yet to be received and returned.
