I signed up for the 3 for 1 as well, and my billing date is showing as June 23rd, so I'm happy!
I'm interested to know how this company makes money, since I had an initial 44 day free trial (from a code on dvdtrials.co.uk) paid for one month, and am now getting another 3 months for the cost of one!
Hopefully there are some people who pay every month, but don't really use the service - otherwise I think they'll go bust pretty soon! This space intentionally left blank.0 -
I doubt they'd go bust as I suspect they're using copy DVD's to send out to everyone anyway. Certainly the ones I've received look very suspect with just a transfer stuck onto a plain disc!
If this is in fact what they're doing then each film costs only pennies to produce and any lost in the post are charged at full price which would contribute nicely to their postage charges
I've received notification this evening that my next lot of films have been sent but I don't think the postman delivers tomorrow (Good Friday) so they're gonna be stuck in the postal system till next week now"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Unfortunately, if they were using copied disks then they would go broke pretty quick as they would be breaking the law and owe loads more than they make - lol0
-
I didn't say they definitely were doing that ... just that the films I've had from them seem to have a badly fitted transfer stuck on the disc which has bubbled up in places, presumably from the heat of the dvd players. It's more likely they're using a very cheap manufacturer, as I doubt they would risk breaking the law "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I think the bubble you refer to is on all Lovefilm discs now it is some kind of protection from disc wear and tear to try and give the dvds a longer life span.
The discs are still originals just treated to enable durability0 -
I find the customer services of lovefilm very bad
I did not receive a film and have tried to cancel but can't get a response from any of my support requests.
No telephone either
I will never give my credit card details out again without a telephone contact number.
This is too risky and frustrating a situation just to save a few bob.
Next payment due out today :-(
My advice - stay clear - it is more trouble than its worth.0 -
Where in the My Account is the billing date written? I cant seem to find it with any of the sections in the My Account0
-
Doh!...... Found it Never mind!0

from what i remember of using these free trials with various companies including lovefilm, the dvds seem to be a mixture of originals and "rental only" copies. the rental only ones were on proper dvds, ie pressed rather than burned copies.0
-
Yes, with rentals its a different copyright charging structure...0
