Sorry going to disagree on the above point - if you live in a rural area, it's pretty likely there will be an agricultural supplies place located somewhere nearby.

I did say maybe an issue. :D

    Sorry but .....
The snag is for cat owners you have to buy it in large quantities so storage may be an issue. Maybe you could join up with a friend or two and buy some together. :)

Well, opened the 40litre of Oko Plus yesterday so timing starts now - how long will 40litre of Oko Plus last with 4 cats that despite going outside only ever pee/poo into their litter trays?

    date of opening: 20/03/12 LOL

Posted in red so I can find this post easy later on.. when the bag finishes LOL

    OK, found it.....

Now, considering that for the past 2 weeks there is 6 not 4 cats in here.... from the 20th March we have 7 weeks for sure (will be on Tuesday).....

Economy wise then Oko PLUS is a winner... if not for that tracking.....grrrrr

the product to which you refer is called Premium Horse Bedding which you buy from White Horse Bedding http://www.whitehorsebedding.co.uk/buy.aspx

The snag is for cat owners you have to buy it in large quantities :)

You DO have to buy it in large quantities. At least 15 bags at a time. You buy it directly from the manufacturers and the other places you can buy it (that I have seen on-line) only seem to sell in bulk too.

    However if you know different......?.;)

Been doing a little number crunching here on some pelleted litter. All prices include delivery.

Yesterdays News - £1.11 / kg (from R&L Pet Products)
Yesterdays News - 60p / kg (from R&L Pet Products bought at a cat show as buy 2 & get 1 free)
CJ Cat Litter 85p / kg (from Millbry Hill)
White Horse Bedding 44.2p / kg (from manufacturers if buy 25 bags)
White Horse Bedding 34.2p / kg (from manufacturers if buy 100 bags)

I know there are a lot more litters available but I have been looking at the most cost effective pelleted litters I know.

But if anyone knows different........? ;)

The problem here is that you can not compare this way as each liter or kg of different litters will be more/less economical as they will be less/more absorbent for example etc etc.....

What I mean is that from your post above, for example WHB may be the cheapest at 34.2 per kg but you MAY need to use 10kg per week so the weekly cost would be £3.42

And YN may be most expensive at 1.11 per kg but you may only need to use 2kg per week so the weekly cost would be £2.20.

This is the problem with absolutely everything - cat litter, dry food (both dog's and cats) etc etc

    I take you point gettingready.

I thought I was comparing more or less like for like, by just comparing pelleted litters. Do you think that even pelleted litters vary tremendously in absorption?

Hey GR, did you see this company that penny-pincha linked to in the james wellbeloved thread? Is that cheaper than the dog food you just bought for Zara?
